Psilocybe subaeruginosa on Hazel (Corylus avellana) andstraw
    #1682596 - 07/03/03 02:46 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

These trays are Hazel (Corylus avellana) chipped with straw mixed in.
Most are a few months old, and all are going well.
Care is simple, just water when dry.

This one is just any wood lover cultures i had that contaminated.
The whole agar disc was but oin of many speices
Psilocybe arcana
Psilocybe azurescens
Psilocybe bohemica
Psilocybe cyanescens
Psilocybe semperviva
Psilocybe subaeruginosa
Gym. spectabilis

Were all put in this one and mixed up just as somthing to do with the
old plates instead of throwing them, all seems well, so it will be interessting to see wht pops up.

This is a recent one, 1 week old of Psilocybe arcana

Psilocybe azurescens 2 or 3 months old.

Psilocybe cyanescens same agae as the azures

And this is the basic way i do these.

hey Paid - can't wait to get out there and see your farm and setup -  animals, human-cooker and all! I was tinkering with that cyan plate before work this morning, to replace the bagged wedges. 3 outta five went bad of the original set.

you have the knack. good luck with that - it takes a long time, but those are all active species, i think: you will no doubt need some help testing them out!

Nice post

I've been considering doing trays outside myself as I'm too lazy to dig outdoor beds and don't wan't to mess my garden up.

There managed to get them all up.

Shame about only 2 out of 5 making it shirl :-( but hopfull you can work somthing from 2?Good luck with it mate, and for sure i'll need test subjects lol come autum :-)

No pasturisation or sterilization was done with any of these trays, i just cut the wood localy, chip it in a garden shredder(i seive out the finer stuff to use in jars/bags as spawn) then use it straight away, the azure
tray was started by putting two whole colonised agar disks in and no spawn, so its really quite easy to get to this stage.
Spawn is still preffered though imo.
Worth trying BioteK imo as its simple to look after once set up :-) lets just hope
it works out, i'm sure some one else here must have done somthing simular?
How did it go?

Looks like a Harvest Festival party at your place LOL.

I have Ps. Cyan & Ps. Azures going on pure wood chips though. About the same age as yours, Will be an interesting comparison.

Nope, no fly covers, and bugs are living in the woodchips too.
I do put chicken wire over the top though to stop rats digging out the spawned seeds, and also to stop my chickens scratching them up.

But now i moved over to wood chip spawn instead of seed.

Yeah, thats just a few green leaves from the hazel i chipped.

I used wood chip spawn, basicaly i chipped a load of hazel, sieved out
the finer chips to use as spawn, and left the larger chunks in the trays.

I then placed the fine stuff in jars, microwaved and inoculated with
agar wedges. Once colonised i just mixed it in with fresh chips.

Ini, looking good today, still growing slowly, but nothing like
your patches yet
