well i'm out for a few days here guys, got alot of shit to do! prepping my outdoor run for the year, got my shitake/oysters to deal with tubs to case jars to g2g, lc to prep transfers to do,new spores to put to agar,grain soaking ,bulk to prep ,gh's to set up and a sab to build....see you all in a few !i'll probably come check you guys out in a couple days but for the most part i'll be busy as fuck so until then rock on

I prefer to late case with coir anyway. Otherwise it seems to just get fully colonized and defeats the purpose IMO.

Aren't you suppose to case with a non-nutritious material?
yes, but people used coir for casing before they knew it was nutritious and they thought it was non-nute. It works mostly fine for this purpose though when done as a late layer and thin.

I don't usually wait for pins or knots, typically I have it in fruiting conditions for at least a day or two then case. This will result in just enough colonization without the casing being over colonized. I just keep it in fruiting after casing.

and it was actually used as a casing because mold spores won't germinate on it, wasn't till like 10 years ago when rr had started telling people to use it as a bulk sub
