Mist during pinning stage? Yay or Nay?
    #19522955 - 02/04/14 10:20 PM (9 years, 11 months ago)

Guys I've used the search engine and have filtered through a lot of posts on this subject, and there's honestly a lot of mixed opinion on this.

Right now on two casings I have some nice primordia going on (lots of little white dots) and a few visible pins emerged today. I actually stopped misting 5 days ago or so and was wondering if it's time to mist again? Or do I wait until fruits are actually taking place? IDK man I'm so confused. They're getting plenty of FAE and don't look dried out by any means, but they do look like they could use some fine misting from 3 or 4 feet up maybe.

What do you guys think?

And by the way, I read a lot of people say (and were adamant about it) to not mist at all during this stage otherwise it would lead to aborts or stunt growth.

Others said absolutely fine mist through pinning/primordia because mush needs the water to fruit nicely. That's why I'm so mind fucked right now.

Post deleted by mushroombelly

Reason for deletion: Rain on the cakes with the mister. Mist them directly

Exactly what he said, but try not to mist directly on the cakes directly. Misting on the lid and keeping perlite moist below your cakes is good enough.

Mist directly.

mist direct from a foot back, we mist to replace the moisture, once you mist and fan as the moisture evaporates it gives you 100% humidity on the surface of your sub where it matters most

Or spray at an upward angle and let the mist gently fall on the cakes.

You're confused by idiots without a clue.  Hopefully, 5 days of no misting doesn't abort all your work.  You're supposed to continue misting to replace the moisture which has evaporated.  If the substrate dries out, your fruits are all going to abort. This has been posted and re-posted by trusted cultivators thousands of times.

False information-very bad advice.  Get a grow or two under your belt before repeating bad advice from other noobs.  The damn lid is plastic and has no need of water.  Mushrooms are 90% water and DO have a need for it.  Mist as required to prevent drying, while providing plenty of fresh air so the mushrooms don't ever sit saturated wet with no air.

I've always had to facepalm at these guys who say not to mist or to mist gently from way up so the mist falls ever so delicately.  Folks, mushrooms fruit in nature after thunderstorms where heavy rain and hail beat the crap out of the manure pie.

When I mist my monotubs I just pop the Poly out of one of the top holes and spray that way. Works just fine.

I still don't like to spray the fuck out of my pins, but I definitely spray directly at them with a fine mist.

Damn. Well I'll hope for the best. I started misting and the pins are growing nicely it appears. We'll see what happens.
