Coco Husk?
    #19521842 - 02/04/14 06:52 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So I asked my lil sister to stop at pets mart for me while she was out and brought back this...

This isn't coco coir which I told her to get.  She said she only seen this one and the 3 pack.

Do you think this may work alright?

lol I've bought the right coco coir from the same place before, except shes only 18 or 19 and isn't as smart as I am (not sayin shit haha)

But I never herd of anyone on here using coco husk which looks like has pretty big chunks from what I see.  But as long as it works I will go ahead and do the bucket tek like I did last time with success.  I broke up all my jars yesterday and didn't want to spawn the crumbs to this until I was sure.

Thanks guys.  I'll get to work in a few hours after I fix up my mothers laptop and reinstall her windows.

haha makes sense thanks alot for the quick answers guys.

I also ended up taking a jar that had some wet brf/verm which didn't colonize (smelt like the rest of the jars) but I didn't wanna risk mixing it with the others so I broke that up and planted em in like 4 or 5 of my ma's flower pots hahaha it's warm & comfortable upstairs so I figured they should like the environment

From my experience the coco husk does not colonize as well. It could just be the brands I have used though. I prefer the coco fiber. Mycelium runs right through it! We have some on our site to compare visually.

Well next batch I run after this will be using regular coco coir.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention I ran out of Verm & ain't got funds to get more.  It shouldn't be an issue not using it with the husk right?  I know verm holds more moisture within the sub so I may have to mist it more often.

i used it for a couple years becasue it was all the pet store carried, but i do find ground coir to hold moisture better

Could the coconut husk be broken up by blending it or by another method?

pain in the ass and a good way to burn your blender motor lol, but yes it can be done! thats how they make it into coir afterall

Seems like a lot of work but I imagine so.

I would DannyDGAF, We sell verm as well. Its a great additive as many other things but you will be fine without it.

who double posts only to say :whathesaid: to their last post

you can find verm for way cheaper at a garden store.
If they don't have it out ask since they probably put it away for the winter and can easily get it for you.

Need to buy your kid a bike or something? doing a lot of advertizing in the mush cult forum. Even though we shouldn't be using your products for actives...

All can find in town is this exact brick also...how many jars did you spawn into this and how much husk did you use?

Have 10 brf cakes and not sure how much of this coco husk to use. Any tips on amount of coco husk/verm/water and 10 brf cakes for a 66qt mono? Thanks!
