What you know about hockey or leadership would not fill a thimble. Seems to me his team mates and most of the league have a great deal of respect for Crosby. Wonder who is gonna be named captain of team Canada? I think you and Don Cherry are the same person Since you are the only 2 people on the planet who have a poor opinion of Crosby.

Some mid season facts:
6 of the 8 "top 8" teams in the league are Western Conference teams. Pittsburgh and Boston are the two Eastern Conference teams.
TEAM - Average Height League Rank - Average Weight League Rank
Anaheim - 20 - 13 St. Louis - 28 - 2 Chicago - 13 - 16 Pittsburgh - 22 - 19 San Jose - 16 - 8 Colorado - 20 - 14 Los Angeles - 5 - 1 Boston - 6 - 17
Boston, Tampa Bay, and Pittsburgh are the only Eastern conference teams with positive goal differential (greater than 10).
St. Louis, Chicago, Anaheim, San Jose, Colorado, and Los Angeles are the teams with a positive goal differential (greater than 10) in the west.

While acknowledging that the attendance figures for all sports are bullshit, this is still pretty cool.
15 NHL teams are selling out at least %100 of capacity this season and only 8 NBA teams are doing it. The Red Wings are selling %118.5 of capacity, but that figure is distorted from their 105,400 fans at the Winter Classic at University of Michigan. Otherwise the Blackhawks would be leading with %109.2 of capacity. Hockey fans do like those standing room only tickets. Other franchises selling out are Toronto, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Boston, Calgary, LA, Montreal, NY Rangers, San Jose, Vancouver, Washington and Winnipeg.
The NBA leaders are Chicago with %103.7 of capacity, Dallas with %103.5 and Miami with %101. The others are LA Clippers, Houston, Golden State, NY and OKC.
In some cases the NBA teams have more fans with a smaller percentage of capacity because the arenas have more seating room for basketball than hockey.
The average NHL ticket is about $10 more than the average NBA ticket.
Hockey has surged in popularity the last 3 or 4 years, even through a labor stoppage because of favorable major market matchups in the playoffs and particularly the Stanley Cup Finals, which significantly increased TV ratings. This was particularly the case last year when major market original 6 teams, Boston and Chicago met in the finals.
While the NBA still has significantly more TV revenues in the US, they are experiencing an enthusiasm gap. Miami has a growing dynasty, but major markets such as Chicago, Boston, NY and LA are in decline. The exciting new teams of the NBA, such as Indiana, OKC, Memphis and Portland are mid-market teams.

Sharks went from a 6 game win streak to a current 3 game losing streak. They better keep it together.

Blackhawks slumped all month except two key wins over Anaheim and Boston.
Hawks at Sharks tonight.

Crosby even asked Jonathon toews if he was okay with him being captain, that's great leadership.

Zdeno Charra is missing 2 Bruins games to go to the opening ceremony and carry the Slovakian flag. Boston's coach is cool with it. I wonder what the Boston fans thought. Bassfreak is not with us but he could be counted on for an opinion.
Last Olympics Charra and Marian Hossa lead Slovakia to a Bronze medal.

Those damned Ducks are just staying ahead of the pack aren't they? Sharks are 9 points behind them in 2nd place, the good thing is they're 10 points ahead of the next team in 3rd place

Yes, unless there are big changes, looks like Anaheim comes in first and San Jose second. L.A. is in a funk and after Hawks beat them yesterday they are only 4 points from losing a playoff spot.
I don't know how they do the playoff matchups this year. The top 3 teams in each division are in then there are 2 wild cards for each conference, so both wild cards might come from one division. I don't know if the divisional teams automatically have higher seeds (like football) or if a better record could give a wild card a higher seed.
The NHL is already talking about changing it next year (after only one year) and having 2 divisional teams get in and 4 wild cards from each conference. They should go back to best 8 from the conference or best 4 from the divisions and avoid this complicated BS.

St. Louis Blues acquire goalie Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from Buffalo. Miller was the 2010 Vezina winner and Ott was Buffalo's captain. Miller, 33, may be a rent-a-player for the rest of the season. The Blues were eliminated two straight years by LA, but this could be the move that makes them a Cup contender, on par with Chicago and the West Coast teams in the playoffs.
Saturday night Chicago hosts Pittsburgh at Soldier Field. The forecast is cold and snow.

Hawks are leading Pittsburgh 3-0 at the end of second period. Penguins have a little bit of a powerplay left when the 3rd period starts, but they haven't put any offense together.

Ovechkin records his 800th point. He's now 7th among active players in career goals, and tied with Datsyuk for points among active Russian born players. He's truly an amazing player.

Yea he's pretty much a bad ass. He deserves a Cup, but he won't get it in Washington. They should trade him to the Sharks, then they can combine forces and finally win one!
