    #1949746 - 09/24/03 09:33 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Alright. So I managed to lay my hands on this really old pressure cooker, it has no pressure gugue or anything. No manual either. And I have no idea how high to put the stove on... Any ideas?

hmmm lets see...an old pressure cooker that potentially doesnt even work..or worse yet could be faulty, that you have NO clue what pressure it cooks at or even how to use it properly, and could send your kitchen quite quickly into a disaster area....lets see here i think i would........throw it away?

I don't even think it is a typical pressure cooker... I mean it says pressure cooker on the top. But the only difference between it and any other pot you boil water in is the fact that the lid is sealed on, not just lying there.

Well, if you ever want to try working with this thing, I suggest you do it outside of your house, let say on a barbecue or something.

Some people here know that a defectvie PC can be so fuckin dangerous...

I once opened mine when there was still 1 PSI of pressure inside and it scared the shit outta me. I just don't want to see what a broken PC will do at 15 psi..

Hey HillBilly, this seem to be a good unit. I also own a National presto cooker. It looks as old and big as this one but mine is different.

I'm very pleased with mine.

looks like you might need a rocker for this item. i see a purge then that copper fitting that supposed to have a weight that sits n it that maintains 15psi.

I got ahold of Presto today, and was told that they don't carry parts for my model. If I can't find a used rocker someplace else, what can I do to get this baby to work?
