this monster is no mere "hinderance".. and in the past i have treated it as if it was god...but what if its not??...in that case..it must have an achilles heel somewhere.. but i wouldnt even begin to know where to look...

I think the article identifies the "achilles heel": money.

And I think what needs to be considered is the net flow of financial resources.  Sure, there are a TON of industries that profit from the drug war, but this profit comes at an enormous cost to the state.

I don't think the state WANTS to pay for incarceration, or shoulder the costs of the legal system to put people in jail.  When people view prohibition in terms of how much it is SAVING the masses (if it does) their views may change.

i would beg to differ ..IMAO..the money at the monsters' disposal is like the death star and the AH is that tiny little spot you have to hit to blow it up...

as for the state not wanting to pay for incarceration.. i should point out the glaring double standard of fiscal conservatives ..theres no such thing as "deficit spending" on things like military..prisons..and surveillance.. while OTOH.. a tiny increase in education or infrastructure will drown us in red ink and wipe out the economy...
