Is this normal to find in the base of the stem?
    #19508853 - 02/02/14 12:17 AM (10 years, 11 months ago)

I cut a stem of a mushroom at the base to try cloning with the little white mycelium um that is supposed to be there but instead I came upon this...

at first it was full of it and it was a pretty clear liquid.
What is this supposed to be?

Looks like some sort of slimey bacteria from what I can see. Does it smell funky?

No, no funky smell at all. Only thing I can smell is the typical mushroom smell.

Hmm, it does look like some sort of bacterial slime though.

That's way too wet and of dubious quality for cloning.  Next time, don't overwater the substrate.
