Bad Spores...or something more?

Recently I just cooked up 2 batches of BRF jars. I have about 20. I followed the Tek to a tee: 2 parts verm, 1 part brf, 1 part water mixed very well and loosely put inside jars. One batch was Pc'd for an hour (pc is low psi) and the other one was put in a stock pot for 90 minutes.
1 batch was knocked up 3 weeks ago. The other one was knocked up 2 weeks ago. I am seeing no signs of contams or growth and have had success with PF Tek before. Is this a case of bad spores (They were from a vendor not sponsored on this site) or could it be something else.
Very Frustrated

Had the same problem but with spores I got from a sponsor. Out of 3 syringes only one got th jars going. I think I might have packed down the substrate too much in the jars though. Is it normal to get bad spores? Even from a sponsor?

I know moisture content can have a big impact on spore germination, however I've done the PF tek before and can tell when the sub is at field capacity...so I don't think that was my problem

well it very well may be, it shouldn't be at field capacity

Maybe I'm mixing up my lingo? I thought field capacity was when a sub was properly saturated.

follow the recipe, it's dam at best. it takes twice the amount of water in the recipe just to cook my rice and i don't even put verm in my dinner lol

What does dam mean? I followed RR's vids to a T. Don't understand why I'm not seeing growth.
PS: My bad about the PM. It was someone else who took your idea and used pancake mix.
Im your 50 dollar adventure thread you use brf and water as a substitute for agar right? How long do you recommend steam sterilizing?

i meant damp at best lol, and no worries about the pm lol! if you followed the recipe your fine you just don't want a saturated sub for your cake mix. i steamed mine for 120 minutes, not sure if that's what was needed or not i just did it lol

I used a 2/1/1 verm/brf/water ratio for the cakes. But I'm pissed. No growth in 20 jars! I may use your handy agar substitute to test my spore syringes

The strange thing is, I inoculated 3 jars 7 days ago and and they caught up to my jar that is about 12 days old and they all seem like they will be finished at the same time (all at 95%)
I think they are going so much faster because the first jar I didn't bring the Verm to field cap. But the second three, I made sure the Verm was at Field cap.
That being said, I don't think you put too much moisture in your jars. Field capacity made my jars speed up

I have 12 jars and 3 bags that have been sitting 4 weeks. One bag has JUST starting showing signs. Like 3% done. All others have no contam or growth. 3 different vendor syringes used.

dayyumn! That blows :/
Not enough moisture in the recipe maybe?? I've seen very slow and small growth in substrates with not enough moisture. Same situations as what you're describing.
