Hello Folks, After much anticipation my PF cakes finally pinned and now are in flush #1. I have them in a shotgun terrarium built to spec, with about 4" of perlite in the bottom. I've been using a 12/12 light schedule, fanning 3-4 times a day and misting lightly twice a day. The temps were quite low, but I finally got it up to about 72F.
The pictures I've seen of B+ and mostly they are huge and well shaped. With undulating edge around the cap and nice heavy stalk.
I'm wondering about mine though. They pin, and the pins grow out to a really phallic looking mushroom. The thing I don't know about is that the cap seems to be tearing away from the stem very early, when the stalks are only an inch or two long. They continue to grow in length, and I'm not seeing evidence of spores dropping yet.
Is this normal? I thought they tended to grow out several inches with the cap still attached, then the cap tears free as it matures. I'll take what I can get, I'm just wondering if this is normal growth.
Thanks for the info--and thanks to the gurus on Shroomery--my first successful grow!

B+ is just a cube, If you grew out GT B+ Creeper Cambo F+ etc.... you wouldn't be able to tell them apart if you didn't label them. Especially growing from spores you're getting a huge mixed bag of genetics. There's the albino varieties and Penis Envy which are legitimately slightly different varieties of cubes but even still they're greater than 99.98% the same as every other cube. You have to isolate genetics on agar to get anything reliable as far as looks an potency and speed of colonization. The shrooms look the way they do because of the environment and genetics being random. The next grow you do with the same syringe might look different. Pictures help more than 1000 paragraphs ever will.
also you don't fan more than you mist, you mist after you fan. Read the first link in my signature especially the part about the SGFC/misting/FAE/RH
