I'm at the point where if I see a tub with them infesting it, it goes in the trash. Also have fly paper in every tub. They have fucked up a few of my projects and I'm just about ready to clean shop. It sucks big time
Felt the same way when had spider mites infest my grow. Shut shop down. Ruined my party.

Do any gnats get into mushrooms?
Or a specific species?

My last attempt to fruit some reishi got these little white critters crawling all over it. I didn't take the time to look at them under magnification but I was not able to get it to pin. And the gnats they seem to like the mycelium, they got up in there and made themselves right at home and then there were maggots! That had to stop so I froze them and let them dry out completely and discarded them. Nasty little buggers.

Ah, yeah my homie got those just recently, he used soap or some shit. He said it worked, but prolly only because he stared at them every day and saw them the first day.

If there's a lot of gnats, use a shop vac to suck them out.
Spider mites on weed can be knocked off with an atomizer filled with nothing but soapy water and a bit of mineral oil. The force knocks them and the eggs off the plants where they die on the floor or walls. (there's also a bit of plant damage, but oh, well) Those green bastards with two black spots are immune to nearly every poison, not that I could use them anyway as an organic grower. That's why I nuke them with physical brute force. RR

I used to use ladybugs when i grew MJ....along with the little yellow sticky traps. They're hungry little fuckers who will eat and eat and eat. I got mine at a pet store, but had to ask around to get him to order them in. If it's the right time of year, you can go get some outside yourself.
They won't do much to prevent spreading bacteria though...so maybe they're not an option unless you catch them early.

I'm happy to know RR and I think alike, I've used the vac method before when I had an outdoor grow that was massively infested with gnats over nearly the whole sub so I would hover the vac over all the sub for a period of time until I felt they were mostly gone then the next day I would have to repeat and sometimes even twice a day but afterwards the sub seemed clean until I moved some of the soil around to see the massive amount of gnats and spider mites.
I've been reading up on this Diatomaceous Earth, it says that it enters into slugs and other insects body sucking out all their moisture causing them to die from dehydration is this all true that it works so well and could it help with gnats and spider mites?
