I tried to find the answer in the search engine, but I couldn't no matter what search terms or settings I tried.
How do you know when a wbs jar is completely done colonizing after the shake? Does every grain have to be covered? Pics please.

but yea, like cron said, sometimes they don't all get covered, either on top or pushed against the glass jar. if its pushed against glass jar, take a good look for wet spots (bacteria) tho. thats where i've seen them start the most. come to think of it, its the only place i've seen them start. makes sense tho...can't see the middle of the jar hehehe

Hmm ok thanks for posting the pic. Still not sure when to call it fully colonized, since I see many uncolonized seeds, especially in the two rightmost jars. It's not like a PF cake, where the whole surface is covered in white when it's done. Seems a lot more subjective with wbs jars. I guess I'm anal, and I don't like that not all grains get covered
Is there such a thing as waiting too long for a wbs jar to colonize? Would pins and fruitbodies form eventually invitro in wbs jars if you left them long enough?

can u post a pic? and yes it possible to wait to long. never had in vitro pins with jars, but with grain bags i have. it depends on how many grains r not colonized to know if u are waiting too long, so a pic would help. i remember going thru the same thing when i first started grains.

Well since it's actually been only 14 days since the first sign of growth (at room temp), I will give these another week or two and then see where they're at. I'll post a pic if they don't seem to have made much progress. Right now they appear to be a bit stalled, or at least the growth isn't as fast as it was earlier.
Maybe I'm just being impatient...and checking the jars several times each day can make it seem slower than it is. Longest two weeks of my life
I'll keep you posted, thanks!
