Sclerotia question

Hello everyone, just a quick question I'm wondering about,
So some spores make mycelium that will never make fruit bodies, but does that affect at all sclerotia forming species ? Since a sclerotia isn't the fruit body, aren't all strains from a multispore capable of producing sclerotias ?
(I'm just wondering, if i do total none sense with my spore dilution experimentation, will I at least still get sclerotias :p )

I'm sure there is 1 in 100,000 that may not be able to produce a sclerotium or fruit body but don't worry about it. You'll never run into it in your whole life chances are. If you grow with MS you have all the other strains that will produce so I would be willing to say It would NEVER happen with MS. If you make an isolate and test it out there's a slim to none chance that it could be a non-performer, but like I said you'll likely never run into it in your whole life.

Yeah, chances are much greater that you'll find a strain that just doesn't produce well, but still does something. Mushrooms didn't evolve to not fruit.

Well I asked because I was experimenting with spore dilution 1:50 and isolating a colony from there So i'm not talking about putting 29838948947 spores in a jar And thanks for the answer :p Still wondering if a none fruiting colony can give sclerotias ) And wow i thought it was more frequent than that to have none fruiting capable mycelium

You would have to specifically isolate the traits you're talking about. Yes, it is genetically possible to have a non-fruiting strain that produced sclerotia, but most likely not without microscopic genetic manipulation. But why would anyone want to do that? If you just want the stones and not mushrooms, just don't ever put them in fruiting conditions.
