Air Stone & Pump Humidfier Setup

My friend recently setup a cheap humidifier for his perlite terrarium with an air pump attached to some air stones which are in a bottle of water. Tubes coming from the top portion of the bottle (out of the water) go into the terrarium. He read about this from shroomery.org.

His question is: The bottle is bubbling but how can you tell if this is working? Should you be able to feel moist air coming out of the tubes?

Also, his perlite is pretty wet, in some spots it's almost like the perlite is sitting in a puddle. Is this bad?

You should feel air coming out. It doesnt have to be moist, just as long as air is coming out moisture is there. Puddles in perlite can be bad if no H2O2 is present. Could be a place for contam.

The perltie is fine as long as the water level isn't above the perlite.

You may feel a breeze coming through but it won't feel too moist. Let it run for a bit then put your hand in the chamber.

The air stone in the water thing will work much better if you attach a heating device to the water.

I just talked to my friend again. The bottle and pump are actually inside of the terrarium. Does this matter?

And in this case could he just do away with the tubes coming out and leave the top off the bottle?

Without taking out all of the cakes is there an easy way to remove some water from the bottom of the rubbermaid?

Tie a piece of fish tand tubeing to a stick or something and push it to the bottom of the perlite and syphon.

Anyone with comments on having the pump inside the terrarium?

Losing the tubes and leaving the top off the H20 bottle?

Your friend is making it more complicated then it needs to be. Follow Magash's suggestion and sit back and collect your shrooms.
