first Blue Oyster grow on burlap
    #19500714 - 01/31/14 12:56 PM (4 years, 3 months ago)

Hi, here to share my first successful bulk grow. It's been like 3/4 of a year since I started trying lol. Sterilized straw stuffed full inside a burlap rice bag. It's a blue oyster culture I got off the marketplace. They sorta turned from blue to gray last night though :frown:. So I wanted to ask if this is a good time to pick or should I let them get a little larger. I don't think they are sporulating yet but the last vendor I bought them from liked to pick them young. Also I have a few smaller pins elsewhere on the bag. Should I kill these when I pick the big ones to help initiate a second fruiting or does it not matter?

have: blue, brown, pink, yellow, elm, king oyster, reishi, nameko, black poplar, shaggy mane, PESA

want: ABM, ganoderma spp., straw mushroom, exotic pleurotus species, ethno cuttings/seeds.

they look ready to me.  take the pins off if they are aborting cause they will start to mold.  if there's still some moisture in the substrate you don't even need to dunk it, just be patient.

Do you have a pic of the pins cm?

I would pick the large cluster now as Drake said.  They will explode with spores over night.
