Spawning BRF cakes to coir vs dunk and roll

Does spawning 2 BRF cakes in coir and vermiculite in a larger container yield more than just using the dunk and roll method? I'm new to this but i would assume since there would be more colonized mycelium over a larger surface area, wouldn't that produce a greater yield assuming that proper nutrients were available?

I've done both in the past. You may get a couple more, but nothing to write home about. Cakes only can sustain a certain amount of nutes for boomers.

Yeah I've done both as well. I think if your clean enough that mixing with coir performs slightly better. But if your still learning it would be easier to just fruit the cakes.
Its not going to double your yield or anything if that's what your thinking.

Thanks! any suggestions for maybe somehow getting larger yields off of BRF cakes? I'm using B+ and if I'm right they have rather large yields?

no, there cubes which all have the same capability, just spawn them and give them proper fruiting conditions

Can't say I know of any teks that will turn your BRF cakes into super bulk yeilding sub. Pressure cooker should be your next thought if you want some yield.

Is there anything that is as easy to grow as cubes and yields anymore with the same if not more potency?

yeah. You want some jaw dropping results just go bulk.
After my first mono tub I fell in love. A tub full of mushrooms. Just follow franks teks or read up on WBS. I know it might seem a little daunting/intimidating to switch from cakes to bulk, but its really not that big of a deal. Well, gotta have a Pressure Cooker, but I got away with Fractional Sterilization for my first bulk grow, and it turned out magnificently.
Pf cakes are just meant to catch your interest; its like the prerequisite course for bulk lol. Bulk gets you higher yield.
I even started with B+ from cakes to bulk, its a good hearty strain that wont let you down. My best boomers were B+.

Yes.
The coir and verm are both extra food for the fungi. Thus, you still have the nutrition of the 2 brf cakes, plus the added benefit of the extra food from the coir/verm. In addition, by definition there will be more mycelium, thus potential for more fruits.
The drawback is you wait an extra two weeks for your harvest compared to fruiting the cakes as cakes. It also adds an extra step or two to screw up. If it's your first grow, I'd suggest dunk and roll and place in a shotgun terrarium. RR

I wouldn't mind the two weeks, but how much more prone to contamination would doing this be? just for future reference. Since it's my first grow i'll probably stick to the dunk and roll but what is a shotgun terrarium? sorry for the newb questions lol

It's what you will fruit your cakes in once they are 100% colonized. Do a quick search on SGFC construction.

no it's not, it's what you would fruit your cakes in one week AFTER there 100%

One more quick question, about how much (estimate) could i expect to be yielded from 6 1/2 pint BRF cakes of B+ from the dunk and roll method if done correctly? (dry grams)

Something else to consider for a Shotgun, if your only fruiting two cakes, that's a lot of empty space in a traditional SGFC which would be sized to handle a dozen or more cakes. The FC performs better when it is near max capacity; the more dead space means more effort required to maintain humidity.
With only 2 cakes I'd suggest a smaller SGFC. Maybe some plastic container you have laying around? Think 'recycle' lol. Or 1 in each 2 liter soda bottle, with some perlite at the bottom.

oh no I'm using either 6 or 8 (whichever i have room for) i only said 2 cakes because i wanted to know if that would be enough for the mycelium to successfully grow in a larger container
