Way too dry here

I've been having a miserable time with the room humidity here where its been 10F or below zero outside for a month now. My cakes are either too dry or too wet. A misted paper towel draped over the cakes helped a lot, especially pinning, but they dried out too fast while fruiting. Just cant find a happy medium. Pots of water on the coalstove, pots of water on the counter, 1 qt will disappear in 2 days just sitting on the counter in a shallow pan, hanging my laundry up inside on a rope, etc. Livable for me but the sub and perlite hates it. I have to dunk the SGFC every 2 - 3 days. On top of all of that, I'm out of sub, and the manure pile I get it from is frozen solid, because it rained between really cold spell and stupid cold spell. I miss the humidity, (but not the trich). My thoughts were "shroomless till thaw".
Then, I found a big bag of grass seed I forgot about while out in the shed/well pit thawing out some pipes, so, I tried Violet's grass seed container thing for the first time. Not the same containers, but they worked out good. They seem to stay better hydrated, for 2 flushes anyway. Fruits kinda small but lots of them. Potency is right up there. But I miss my h manure sub and the larger fruits and yield. But this is working out and I have a huge bag of seed so I will stick to that until the temps get above freezing and the humidity returns somewhat. I tried Koh Samoi and John Allen. A bit disappointed in the Koh but had some nice clusters, and quite potent. The JA is in crazy-pin mode right now with a misted paper towel over the containers. As long as I don't let the PT dry out its working fine. I cant wait to try them. Both were a few transfers in from ms on agar to WBS to grass seed. I got jars with nothing to do in the frige yet, so I'm set for a bit, as long as I can grow them on something.
Best part is I'm not shroomless til Spring.

I dunno if you're asking about your humidity or whatnot, but if you give mono's a try, the humidity shouldn't be a problem if you dial it in....

wouldn't just be easier to buy a humidifier for the room your SGFC is in? For 30% you could keep the RH at at least 30% in that room no problem, or make a monotub

Lol. Wasn't 'asking' anything. More like a 'will there's a way', 'smoke em if you got em', thing. Subless monos - I don't think that works. As soon as my sub pile de-glaciates, mono's are next on my list to try. I never done one, I'm reading all of Franks great info on them. I really can't wait to build one.
Wallet - empty. Job - not till April. Gotta watch the funds. You never know when some big ticket item goes south, and you look around and say "wow, shouldn't have bought that". My place is a 3 room cabin in the sticks, and it really dries out quick below 20 deg. But, its all mine and I like the seclusion, wouldn't have it any other way.
It was either grass seed or chicken feathers, and the chickens won't give them up without a fight. I wasn't much on trying the grass seed thing, I'm turned off with all the drama, egos, and attitudes, but when its all you got ...
Peace, FT
