All my eggs in one basket
    #19486254 - 01/28/14 01:28 PM (10 years, 11 months ago)

Just need some simple advise. I have 7 quarts of spawn but I'm nervous about putting it all in a monotub. My question is whether I should split the spawn into two batches to guarantee some success or roll the dice with the mono. I'm really eager for results but from what I've read Im kind of over the contamination hump at this point. Thanks.

I would split it up between two.  You never know when a contam will hit and then what... you loose everything you worked hard for.  If careful, you will have two tubs full instead of just one ;]

Can you point me in the direction of a good tek for that? Mini mono or something like that? I use the search function but its hard to tell what information is solid and proven.

Fuck anyone who got a loud ass typing finger and wants to talk shit via online haha, you can't get any more immature than that.  I wouldn't worry about them folks.  Just post what you need to have answered.  If your really concerned then use the search function before you post the question because most likely it has been asked and answered many times in the past.  That way no one will be a dick and say to search for it next time.  Just my 2 cents.

If you are concerned you could make up 4 trays into 2 fruiting chambers and g2g your last jar.

You could do all kinds man.  G2G, spawn one or two to trays and put in a SGFC, do a mini mono.  Try it all man:thumbup:  It'll give you more to do with your time than sit there watching them grow

just keep posting Q's, I guarantee you wont be the sloppiest when it comes to searching before asking around here.
Most "flaming" comes from people claiming knowledge they clearly don't have, making stuff up or just giving crappy advice.

Don't be afraid, just keep your thoughts together and make 1 post, wait for answers and then take it from there.

happy 420 dude

You can make two trash bag liners for your one tub.  Make two bulk substrates that fit in one tub.

If only one makes it, you can still fruit the other one in the same tub.  if the humidity seems too low, the empty space can be filled with a little moistened perlite.

I call them "Keyboard Commandos". They just like to talk shit without offering any good advice to the person who may not be sure of themselves. I asked questions when I first started out (there was no internet then) but when the forums came along, they were the best thing since sliced bread.

I would offer the advice to use the search function and sort by date posted and you will probably get a lot of info that you are looking for without feeling like you are asking redundant questions. The times that I didn't care was when I was actually doing something. I felt a sense of urgency that trumped my fear of being flamed  but I didn't care because I wanted updated, concise information on the spot. I actually bugged RR so bad that he posted in many of my threads. I still owe him for that.

The best advise I can offer is to do a ton of research before even asking your first question. The more sure of yourself you are before you begin, the better off your grows will turn out.

Excuse my rambling but I am just letting you know how I approached the hobby, and it worked for me (so far). Get in there and get your hands sterile.

I would do 7 mini-mono's. Actually I would probably do something more risky, but I recommend you split it up as much as you can. For one, you'll get more experience, and two, multiple tubs always produce more, even if you use the same amount of substrate as you would have in the one tub. And of course you get the benefit of not having all your eggs in one basket. Whatever you do, good luck!
