How risky is it to grow in an apartment?

I've searched and seen a few topics about growing in an apartment, but they've all involved pretty large quantities. I personally want to start growing, but want to start very small until I have a technique down, because I'm pretty clueless and know for a fact that I'm going to waste a ton of money and probably royally fuck up multiple times before I get anything even resembling a positive result.
That being said, is it wise to grow in an apartment?

I wouldn't do it personally. I feel that there's just too much risk.

I don't see why its unwise growing in an apartment, especially if it's your own. What difference does it make?
Also, you're gunna have to bulk grow, to an extent of course. You can't just plan to inoculate one jar, as you're not expecting a 100% colonization rate, much like a 100% germination rate with cannabis.

Of all the things you could be growing / making, a box of mushrooms are probably the least conspicuous. Selling it and talking about it is where the risk comes from.

Depends on your roommates. Are you alone? Then shit yeah why not? Do you have dipshit, loudmouth roommates who will tell all their friends and your neighbors? Well then fuck no. I would say only grow if you trust your roommates with your life.

if its your own then who cares? make sure u do it stealthy, no bulky bags of coir, and horse manure or 100L bag of vermiculite DD
small quantities are invisible
and as the others said. dont talk dont tell em FRIENDS that u are doing such things, dont play the cool guy

As long as you don't tell anyone you will be fine. When it comes time and you want to trip with some friends just tell them you recently met a guy and he gave you an amazing deal for all that you've acquired. Also try to have more of a positive vibe going on. Don't automatically assume your going to fuck up multiple times. Believe in yourself. Just make sure you have studied well and you know your stuff. Try this. really try it. Think about the process. Write it down if you need to. Now start going through all the steps over and over in your head. First think about your sterile technique, think about every detail of everything you do to get ready. Keep going through your process in your head with every detail now start with step one after you have imagined sterilizing everything. Everything from step A all the way to Z. Believe me this will really help you. Also keep a personal log for yourself. After you do something make sure to put the date and time and a detailed account of what you did. If something does go wrong your going to want to know what happened. This will tell you. If you can't find what you did wrong good thing you took such good notes you can post it and the AWESOME people here at the shroomery will gladly help you. Good luck.

You should have an idea how much maintenance comes around for air filter replacements, pest control and whatever. Keep everything hidden and ideally behind locks only you can open, don't talk about it, and have fun.

I agree with chimaira, I pulled a good ounce off of my first mono in a little shoebox with one quart of spawn. It's nothing to brag about, but it certainly wasn't a fuck up! You'll be fine as long as you do your homework and don't follow stupid outdated teks. As far as apartment growing, 99.99% of the population couldn't tell you the difference between a panaeolus cyanescense and a reishi mushroom. If anyone asks, just say they're beech mushrooms. It also wouldn't hurt to grow some beech mushrooms along with them.

My boyfriend and i grew in our spare room closet. We had no problems until the roof leaked in the hallways and e got paranoid about whether our landlord would come over to inspect the place due to the fact someone on our floor (top floor) had a leaky roof. we tossed everything out. Now the room is our computer room. but we have to move everything out again because im pregnant. To put it nicely, life whipped lemons at us...
