Extremely short and fat fruits in monotub.

First flush on a monotub I have going is producing extremely small, dense, and fat fruits. I haven't changed anything from the last 5 tubs I did which produced beautifully. The only difference is the strain (KSSS). Is this purely genetics? It's almost like it's just a bunch of caps with hardly any stem. The veils are breaking on some of them and they are very hard to pick because of how small and dense they are. Should I just let them grow as big as they can get? Never seen anything like this.

They're speckled looking like they've torn through a universal veil like an Amanita Muscaria. Very strange looking. Nice pinset all the less though.

They need moisture. Pour some water over the top and around the edges of the substrate. Wait an hour or two and pour off anything that will drain back out. RR

Well things don't always look as they are and things can be misread and mistaken for what they realy are so don't read too much into what I say since I might be mistaken myself. And remember I rarely ever give a definate answer.

Will do. I don't know how I'm gonna pick these things they are so dense and close together it's like I'll have to scrape them off with something.
Here's a couple more pics I took this morning:

Don't all gilled shrooms have universal veils?

Nah, cubes and such only have a partial veils - from the gills down to the stem. A Universal veil like the Amanita covers the entire mushroom leaving the speckled spots behind that you recognize as polka dots on Mario Bros.

ksss is a cubensis, and these clearly have remnants of a universal veil.

Haha, they just look like the remnants of a universal veil like I said. I'm sure it's just spots of myc. A cube is a cube, ksss isn't radically different from other cubes.
