Kind of a gamble running that big of a tub IMO,
maybe run 2 smaller ones next time
Just went out to get 2 smaller Sterilite tubs. 51qt each. They seem much easier to manage. And indeed, less of a gamble. I'll try again with the big Tubs when I have a few successful grows under my belt.
I even have some 120qt that I'll be trying in the future. But for now, I'm going to retreat to the petri dishes and clean up my cultures before I try again, shouldn't be very long.

It wasn't. It was at the edges of the tub. That blob I pointed out to you seems to be benign...

Thanks for crying with me brother, I shed a tear as I waved to the garbage man who took the now defunct slate of mycelium.
Keep me posted on your thread, I want to send those good vibes your way.
All in all, it was a good experience, not only for the fact that it's a fail, but I think next time I'll document growth privately until I actually have a flush and then share it with you guys. Being a long time lurker, I know how much it sucks to be let down by incomplete threads where the grow contaminates, lol.

I live in a Condo and I didn't actually wave to the garbage man.
Even then, it's -20C right now, so no such luck.

I hate the winter, Even my spent substrates have to get trashed since it's routinely way below freezing.

Excited to share with you all some pictures of my second monotub grow (RIP Tub #1 you will be missed).
Coir/Verm/Gypsum was pasteurized prior its use and all jars seemed to recover well after a last shake. They smelled fine before I dunked the grains for 15 minutes.
It took roughly a week to stitch itself back together, before ready to be fruited.

Just wondering what TEK you use for Pasteurization?
Also, Is this your second Tub and Second tub failure? "RIP Tub #1" and now Tub #2? And, As you did with this Tub you Dunked the Grains, did you Do the same on Tub #1?
Thanks, I've had two tubs go to shit. I dunked Grains for Both, and I used two different Pasteurization teks. Pretty sure I Over Pasteurized / close to sterilization on one of them.

Yeah, I love burrying my spent subs in the summer. It's a shame I can't do that right now in the barren shithole of Michigan.

If you're getting contams before the first flush is even done the problem is your spawn. It was already bad before you started.

Precisely, in my case, my problems stemmed most likely from the contaminated spore syringe. Self healing inoculation port with flamed needle in SAB doesn't get cleaner then that.
Also, sterilized Coir isn't a big deal, Pastywhyte got a thread going where he experimented with it, and no harm was done. It's believed coir and verm don't have any beneficial critters on them to spare by pasteurizing, so a total critter genocide (pressure cook or temps hotter than 180) isn't a problem.
I used the stovetop jar method with thermometer. Core was temp held at 140-160C for 1 hour.
