Haiii guys!
Excited to share with you all some pictures of my second monotub grow (RIP Tub #1 you will be missed).
This is 8qt of Rye spawned to 10qt of Coir and 2qt of Verm and a bit of peletized gypsum. The spawn has a significant amount already.
Coir/Verm/Gypsum was pasteurized prior its use and all jars seemed to recover well after a last shake. They smelled fine before I dunked the grains for 15 minutes.
It took roughly a week to stitch itself back together, before it was ready to be fruited.
One week later, and here we are!

You'll notice I recycled an old SGFC, I covered the inside with thick plastic transparent house covering. ("polytaine" in french, not sure what it could be in english)
Drilled some 1" holes, stuffed bottom tight, top loose, running a fan in the room, seems to be getting what it needs at the moment.
Hope this sums it up nicely! I'll be updating regularly, so keep droping by!

Hey Whalechunks,
Looking good!

How deep is your substrate? I ask because 8:10 is what I usually fit in a 50qt tub for a roughly 3.5" inch sub.
Looking forward to seeing the first flush!

Hey Timehole, thanks a lot!
It's roughly 3" deep, and btw it's 8:12 with the 2 verm quarts. It's not very even though, I let it consolidate on another tub, so the bottom of this one is convex. Have to move it around with that tub underneath, or else a flat surface is going to push the unevenen bottom up and break the substrate.

That's a monster mono! Hope it does good for you. Get you some 66qt Sterilite tubs. You'll like them better. They are much easier to dial in

I hear you brother, my other tub was 50qt, ironically it contaminated. Let us hope nothing bad will happen to this tub. I was thinking of putting in a divider next time so that I can at least mitigate my losses and replace tray/substrate with perlite in case of contamination on one of the sides of the tub. 8-10 jars of spawn seems like a gamble I don't want to take too often.

I cut a trashbag in two (at the seams, so that I only have one layer thick), lay it in there losely, pour spawn and bulk sub in, mix in well and make sure to get it in all the corners. I then trim with scissors.
To be frank, the trickiest part is the trimming job, it has you trying to yield the scissors at unconventional angles. My tip to you... just go for it, you'll get the hang of it. This is only the second tub I do, I'm not sure if that helps.

Blow out the candles, Trash TEK the party hats, my tub got a bad case of the Trich.
Talk about a buzz kill. Moral of the story, for grains, DO NOT USE SPORE SYRINGEs as your innoculant.
At least I have quite a few plates of agar that i'm transfering out that are starting to look half decent... just will have to wait a bit more before being able to trip.
