Thanks man! I'm pretty happy with my first try at these. Hope I have similar luck with some other edible species I gonna try next. Today they is looking good IMO. Definitely starting to look like reishi to me

Pondering when to up the FAE. Probably gonna just take some stretch wrap, tape it over the top and cut some slits in it.

I have to give Ganoderma a try, hopefully mine will be as prolific a fruiter as yours.
Seems like you could just drill a few holes in the lid for FAE, be less hassle IMO.

They're telling me they might like the air now, but I could be wrong. Your culture behaves so much differently than the one I've worked with.
Maybe just try the stretch wrap on one tub, then you can tell which it liked better in the end?
Just an idea, I always try to learn as much as I can about a species from my grows and trying different things side by side is the best way, I think.

I was about to quit reishi for a while just because they like to make a mess in my greenhouse. Don't know how I forgot about monos! I'm about to start up some more but in mono's this time And like eeryone else said that is a sweet looking culture! Is it a vendor source?

Sporeworks IIRC, it's in the thread somewhere but I'm too lazy to look

You are correct, I did get it from sporeworks and so far I like it. Still got lots as well. Thinking about knocking a master slant to keep it around, then doing some more grains and trying to see how well it does on a plain old coir verm sub.

do u guys do the addition of a woodchip in ur slants, like the RR video, or no? if so, is that wood chip hydrated/prepared/sterilized in any special way?

I use those wooden coffee stir-sticks they have at the local grocery store. I just boil them for a little while and leave 'em in the pan to hydrate while I'm mixing up my agar, then put in the slant with my agar mix and PC as usual. Kinda curious if anyone else does it differently...

They're too big to fit in the tubes I have so yeah, I break them in half. I think the goal would be for it to be close enough to the opening of the tube that you could get a sample from it to grow out but I'm not even sure how exactly you go about that honestly Hopefully one of the seasoned pros here has done it before and can explain how you revive a culture from the wood.

those look incredibly funky. can you grow those in a monotub for their whole life? I'm about to start my first reishi grow and im looking for something relatively simple because the humidity where i live is almost non-existent

I'm getting that same culture from sporeworks based on your results. Can't wait to see if I can recreate your results. You definitely have an inspiring grow going on here.
