Hi everyone, long-time lurker, first time poster...
I inoculated 4 jars about 5 weeks ago and another 4 a week later using BRF and verm, the fist 2 weeks i was growing i had no heating system and the mycelium were at about 23-25 degrees Celsius, i bought a heating pad and can now regulate the temperature and keep it between 26-29 degrees.
The first 4 i inoculated seem to be working fine, although some of the later ones seem to have been dehydrated because of my carelessness with the heating mat.
I had to use plastic jars instead of glass but i think they'll work just fine. I think they're taking longer than they're supposed to but hopefully it'll be worth it soon.
I plan to dunk & roll once they're fully colonized.

I put the jars onto their sides for the pictures, usually i have the near-finished ones upside down and the others right side up. As you can see in the 4th picture, patches of mycellium dried up and are being taken over by mycellium from the other side, should i still use these ones? I don't want the dead mycelium coming back to punish me mid-trip...
I'll keep everyone updated as I go on...

look into the right size jars to avoid all this, now just wait it out and do your best not to disturb your dry layer anymore

From what I've learned, cubes are very durable mushrooms. I think they'll do fine if you take proper care of them during the rest of the grow. Good luck and keep us posted.

i have no experience with it, but iv read that heating mats are no good, I think cause they dry out the cake. I heat up a closet to the perfect temp with an electric space heater.

No need to incubate with the heating mat.
If you are comfortable, so are they.

Heat the space not the jars and room temp is great for colonization. Remember the jars are hotter on the in side.

**UPDATE**
The jars were taking super long so i decided to birth one at 75% colonization, i scraped off most of the uncolonised part and dunked it for about 18 hours and rolled it in verm but most wouldn't stick, i also DEC'd it.
I wasn't really expecting it to work so you can imagine my surprise when pins popped up after a week in the FC, they first showed about 3 days ago and they're growing nicely by the looks of it

They've doubled in size every day so far, if i get enough for one trip i'll be satisfied, i'm gonna use better jars next time i try this though
