Inadvertent Monocultures
    #19472969 - 01/25/14 04:57 PM (10 years, 11 months ago)

On 1-22 I noticed I had inadvertently created two monocultures with not so aggressive looking mycellium to be fair until a week ago I had never seen a petri in person, so my inexperience could be playing a large part as well as hopeful thinking.  However both petri's are showing very uniform growth one is a perfect circle with no signs of contamination at least to my inexperienced eye.  I know my account isn't old enough to be able to be considered for access to the marketplace but I do want those elders in the community to know that is what i'm seeking if allowed one day.  I would like to offer these petris as an example of worthiness to one day be considered.  I would like someone in the inner sect of the community who regularly trades spores etc. to let me mail these to them as proof of my sincerity, and to tell me if i've actually created two monos   They are Cambodian

lol and no I didn't take pictures of them, but I suppose I will dig them back out of their 4-7 layers of plastic wrap and foil if I have to.

So you would like someone to deliver live active mycellium to, who can tell you if you have an isolate or not?

That is illegal.

Why can't you just tell us how many transfers it took you and post a pic like everyone else?

lol I knew you'd be the first to respond, I can, that's not the issue I want to stop paying 15 bucks for a syringe everytime I want to study a new strain, and as far as i'm aware the mycelium isn't illegal until it creates a fruit because the law only concerns itself with the active ingredient.  But I guess i'm wrong? that kinda dampens things :/

This is actually the uglier of the two

This is the agar side of the better looking one its very condensated I just pulled them out of the fridge.

This is the condensated side, still quite uniform even in this picture.

See the last pic in my signature?

Back up some and make them a little clearer if possible.

It's really hard to tell from those pics.

Yeah I know, really though the ultimate goal was not to determine mono or not.  I mean its a cellphone camera /shrug.  Perhaps when the temp stabilizes in this petri the condensation will go down & i'll be able to get a clearer image, but I wouldn't expect much improvement with the camera im using.

Ok heres the best I could do with my camera.

And here are my second set of transfers two days old.  Beginning to take off.

And my newest batch of jars, these are MS from my first set of transfers I couldn't stand to throw all that mycellium out so I noc'd up jars with them.
