Pin caps opening prematurely

So here's a little backstory. They were birthed weeks ago. first week spent in Auto FC and second week spent in bigger Martha FC. I was told the martha wasn't doing the job and that the cakes dried out. I redunked and put them in a SGFC. I got tons of pins on one cake, a huge shroom on one, and the other two aren't pinning at all. Almost all of my pins are opening already. I hear it's from dry sub but I've now dunked twice, flipped the cakes, and started saturating the tops as often as they suck up all the water. Here are some pics. Please let me know how I've managed to fuck up this time.

I have had this happen to me before, pins would open when they where super small. And would only get one or two large ones.. I do not know for fact what my problem was . But my next grow I started to give it a lot more FAE and it has never happened to me again buddy.

Had this happen before...At this point you tried too hard.... Should have just left them in the SGFC and nothing automated, you're barely getting the hang of this and you already wanna try an automated fruiting chamber?
Shot Gun Fruiting Chamber Mist and Fan multiple times a day Wait
Just wait till they're fully mature at this point, they grow quick, not instantly.

No this hasn't happened before. I've just been having one problem after the next. I read the forums all day and I've done extensive research on tons of different teks. I'm getting really frustrated with how much shit can go wrong. I know I may be over thinking it but I just want to get the best fruits I can. The were in the auto FC's at first but I was set straight pretty quick. The pins have been in the SGFC their whole lives. I've been misting until droplets appear on the surface and then fan constantly for about a minute. I do this about 4-6 times a day.

Then just let it go, they'll be fine. Keep stressing over it and you're gonna send your cakes bad vibes. Then they'll be doing this shit on purpose and it won't even be your fault.
Just keep misting and fanning in the SGFC, and you'll be good. Just give it time It'll be all good

Was thinking the same, but looking at the cakes it also looks like OP misted right before taking the pictures.

I did mist before taking the pics. What about the hole in the top of the cap of the big guy? I feel like I've heard somewhere that it's a sign of rotting or something.

Might be misting a little too heavily on to the fruits.

well the first two chambers were not a good choice, i never like cakes in my gh, stop flipping your cakes and watering them your suppose to mist not soak, always let that moisture dry up before misting again

LOL, the mushroom gods have a sick sense of humor.
This has never happened to me, but I can pull an educated guess out of my ass for you. Mushrooms are mostly water, and you had already mentioned they're not/weren't getting enough. It sounds like they dried out, and it's also possible that maybe the substrate wasn't sufficiently hydrated in the first place, and now they're stunted. They've all decided that this is it; this is as good as it's gonna get, so we need to blow our loads now while we still have the chance, and we'll see you all in the next life.
Something I've noticed about mushrooms (and plants, too): there's a "point of no return" where they're not dead, but they dry out just enough that they won't absorb water when it's become available, or will only absorb a little, but it doesn't help. It's like when you see that a houseplant is dying, and you say, "Oh shit!" and water it, but all the water pees out the bottom. I'm not trying to harsh your buzz or anything. I'm going to assume you're in the northern hemisphere--it's winter and dry and the air vacuums the water out of everything, sends it up to the sky, then takes a big, white, frozen dump all over you for spite.
This is what I would do, personally. You are free to tell me I'm full of shit and to go to hell. I would squeeze the cakes to see if they feel like they're not too hard and dry (I realize this is subjective), and if they feel salvageable (again, subjective), I would pull off all the pins and dunk for 18-24 hours. Then I would pat them dry with a paper towel and squeeze them again. If they got better, I'd try to fruit them again in a SGFC. If they're hockey pucks, I'd toss 'em and start over.
Good luck!

Well, obviously not enough to bruise them, just enough to see if they're hydrated. You gotta do it with finesse, lol. The way you'd poke a steak to see if it was done.
OP, you don't have to squeeze or poke your cakes.

I live in a high desert. It's cold and dry as hell. I have a humidifier in the room to try aleviate some of the drying. I've only been soaking the verm on top for a day to help rehydrate. I've heard it's a good way to get some last minute water in the sub underneath. I flipped them because all the pins were growing on the bottom. I like all the proactive suggestions. Keep them coming.

Well here's the final score. Ate um and did another dunk and roll. Got a nice looking coat on them now. Keep those little bastards from drying out again.

I think you can understand why I was infatuated with those two. They look like a little couple with bonnets on.
And there was also a Christmas miracle. My oysters finally decided to show up to the party.
Not as much as I would have liked but it was enough for two people to have a bit of fun.

This happened to me 2 weeks ago. I changed my light to 6000k(blue day light) and it solved the problem immediately. Also fanning allot and misting just enough helped.

this may be heresy around here, but i barely fan my SGFC. once a day, in evening. i do mist 3-4 times a day though. maybe its my environment, maybe its cause 2 rooms over with doors open there is a fan blowing, who knows. the moisture from misting evaporates fine in my situation w/o fanning. maybe my holes are too big (i burned them in, not drilled, but very close to 1/4") or room's Rh too low, but it works for me, and i mention it because other posters have had this experience as well. maybe the air currents in that room are more active than u think for any number of reasons
