Mycelium soldiers?!

I observed in two different videos where an infected substrate tray of coir, which was infected by some sort of green mold pathogen, the mycelium had "bubbled up" around the infected areas, literally creating a protective ring around the green mold! When I observed this, my first hunch was that the mycelium was trying to protect the rest of the substrate from getting infected! Has anyone one else observed this phenomenon, and am I right in my guess?? Also would this not mean that mycelium has intelligence?!

So I had something like that with a different species. PS. Galindoi
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19453913/page/1 The link
What happened was the jars where still colonizing, and trich popped up. I set them aside till I could PC them. (kept away and Shut from everything)
Went to go PC and found the stones. It formed as a last ditch effort to survive.

Wow I'm confused I've never heard of this before!! Are you saying some species of mushrooms that normally grow as stem/cap fruit bodies can also grow as truffles in certain circumstances? What about cubes??

Cubes do not. P. Galindoi, Tampensis, Mexicana. They form truffles. I don't know of any others.
