Yeah but if you're dominant enough in that one thing, its been shown to work...look at Chuck Lidell, no games, no take Downs, just punching people in the face over and over! Lol  and Ronda showed she can do more than a judo throw and an armbar in that fight with Meshia Tate. But the new breed of MMA fighters are coming thru now. People like jonny bones and Showtime! (Anthony Petis) those guys can do it all.

Yeah, guys that started training in MMA, good and proper instead of having a background in, say, wrestling or, as in Ronda's case, Judo. This sport is evolving so friggin' fast it's hard keeping up. That's the way I like it though. I can't wait until saturday night, I think it's gonna be epic. I love Benson Henderson.

The guy's a beast. A very skillful one.

Who you think will win? Henderson or Thomson?

Smooth! All the way!! Benson and Faber are two of my favorite fighters that came from WEC. I think Benson is on a mission to get back at showtime... I mean Henderson was the freakin man in WEC till he got "showtimed" then he was the freakin man again in the UFC till he got "showtimed"... again. Man, Anthony's in Benson's head...but yeah, this will be the most epic year in the ufc to date! I need to start saving some $$ for all the freakin pay-per-views I'm going to NEED to see

They can get expensive alright... but I think it's much better to watch it at home than on site. You get a much better view on the action and you are just much more comfortable at home without people screaming around you and shit.

@Niffle - oh yeah, I'm not trying for a debate or argument lol  I didn't realize that boxing is as big as it is! It makes sense, how well would MMA do if you couldn't box lol... every round starts standing  I guess I just didn't realize it because I grew up in south Fla (Miami area) and that has turned into MMA training HQ! so naturally everyone really only watches MMA down there....shit, my wife grew up 4 doors down from "Killa B" Ben Saunders (former UFC fight, now in bellator)

Haha yeah I know you weren't trying to start an argument. I just wanted to toss that statement out in general because I know how MMA/UFC and boxing threads can often turn into a debate over which is better.

But speaking of UFC, I did catch that Silva/Weidman fight at the bar. Fuck man that leg break was horrific.

Horrific is the right word. I've seen some pictures since the fight and he seems to be in good spirits. He's healing fast. I'm glad for him.

Didn't even know these two fought. Must have been quite a trip! From Canada to Manaus!?

There was probably a hundred people easy at the bar watching, and when they played the replay -- hearing all 100 people horrifyingly gasp in unison...something I'll never forget. Good to hear he's recovering well though.

Yep. I really hope Smooth can take this one. I have nothing against Thomson, but Smooth deserves another shot at the belt and I'd hate to see him suffer a set-back right now.

Cowboy's also on the card. I love this guy. He's a true fighter and he really seems focused right now so this one can only be awesome.

Also and I didn't know this. Alex Caceres aka Bruce Leeroy fights Showtime's brother, Sergio Pettis tonight in the prelims. I love Bruce Leeroy so I can't wait to see this one.

Bruce LeeRoy sure did get a nice win there. I'm happy, all the fighters I hoped would win, did. Bruce LeeRoy, Cowboy ( and I really wasn't sure about this one as Adriano Martins is badass ) and, of course, Benson Henderson.

I've seen some people think Thomson got screwed. I don't know what these people smoked before watching the fight but Thomson sure didn't dominate that fight. I'm not saying Benson did either, but he obviously had a slight edge over Thomson as the fight went on after the first round. It was close, but Benson was obviously in better shape and a bit more on the offensive. That earned him the fight and I'm happy for him.

Great card. Great night. Next saturday promises some great things as well...
