That's true, many of them are simply following what the voters want, even if they pretend to be "solid leaders" in the process.

In Massachusetts, they always have a non-binding question while voting, "Do you support the decriminalization of marijuana?" or something along those lines, and it constantly wins. Yet the politicians hesitate because they don't think the voters actually want it.

You really have to let them know what you support, because if you don't the people on the other side will.

Mega old thread, but I just stumbled upon this looking for something entirely different, and this was pretty much right around the time Marc Emery got sent off to prison in the United States for trying to save his friends from going to prison. I thought that the legalization of marijuana in 2 and soon to be 3 states, as well as the release of Marc's sentencing nearing closer (July 2014) deemed a good enough answer, as well as the fact that when he does come home, he is going to really push forward for us Canadians, and hopefully get his foot in the door with Trudeau in possibly ending prohibition in Canada.
