Never done WBS. Is this content list good?

Really excited to have a brand new 18L (4 gallon) PC. And even more excited to get into grains after doing BRF for several times now.
I found this WBS bags in my local DIY store. I'm not sure about the content however.
"Wheat, oats, red dari, red millet, sunflower seed, crushed maize and crushed peas"
Does it sound okay?

I always try to find one with the most millet and the least flour, but that will work fine. Just make sure you rinse it very well with hot water before you soak it.
EDIT: didn't see the oats and crushed peas at first, never had experience with those ingredients but I would look for something else if possible, I don't see any definite reason it wouldn't work but the crushed peas and oats may have a very sticky consistency.

Yeah, it's the oats and the crushed peas that looked weird to me too. Thanks for your input brother.

Browsing through the shops I found these two brands of WBS. Unfortunately they dont state the ingredients on the label. It only says "selected grains and cereal"
#1 #2
Only by the looks of it, could anyone with more experience give me an OK or nay on them. Next thing I could do is look for some online, but I'm afraid they might be too pricey.
These are in the "Poundland", the UK equivalent of the "DollarStore"
PS: Approximately how many 1L (1 quart) jars can I fill up with a 1.5KG (3.3 lbs) bag?

Meanwhile I found the ingredients for the #1 brand on the internet:
Whole Wheat Kibbled Maize Striped Sunflower Seed Black Sunflower Seed White Millet Pea Grits Naked Oats Red Dari.
To me, the #2 looks very similar.

Nope, neither. I mean go for it but I wouldn't personally get either of them.
Health foods stores carry Rye grains
otherwise find something with the most millet/milo and nothing else except MAYBE sunflower seeds which you'll have to get out before you can do much with it.....
When people say Wild Bird Seed, they're really just referring to millet and milo. Not the other shit.
This is the ingredients list on the WBS I get

Yep, you convinced me. I wanted to be cheap. But I found a good deal on some organic rye grains.
How many quart jars do you reckon I can fill (2/3) with 1kg (2.2 lbs) of rye?

I get 20 jars from 10lbs. So .5 lb per jar

Crushed maize is cracked corn. Some people have luck but most end up with a sticky mess. I'd avoid it.

What's important for any grains is you want them whole and not a bunch of heavy damaged grain chunks. I've had similarly bad experiences with cracked corn. Even rye berries would be crap if they were low quality heavily damaged grains.

Yeah, I got some organic rye berries. Should be top quality.
Since it would be my first grain tek, is it worth it putting some verm at the bottom of the jars, in case I don't get the moisture content right?

Don't bother with the verm. Just do the paper towel test. After you've simmered the grains and let them dry take a small scoop of rye and place it on a paper towel or toilet paper for about 15 seconds. If the paper is dry after that or has just has a teeny tiny amount of water absorbed your good to go.

Nah don't fuck with the verm at all in there. Just wait until it's dry to the touch before you load into the jars. A fiberglass window screen from the hardware store is a cheap method just cut it out in a big square lay down 2-3 layers of newspaper then lay the screen in a 5 gal bucket with the edges sticking up out to act as a net/strainer so that you can pour the hot grains and water into the screen in the bucket after boiling for 10 minutes, grab the edges of the screen together to lift the entire thing out of the bucket with one hand lift it up and out and let water drain through the screen into the bucket for a minute. Think of pouring curds and whey through a cheesecloth then bringing the cloth around and lifting up the curd from the whey. Then just lay it out on the newspapers under a ceiling fan put on high. Spread it out evenly to get the most cooling surface area possible. After about 10 minutes carefully roll the corners and edges to bring the grains back to the middle of the screen and redistribute again to dry more. Do this until they feel dry to the touch, it shouldn't take too long. Kitchen dish washing gloves are helpful. Perfect grains every time and super easy, no shaking or any of that nonsense. Then just pull the edges of the screen together and bunch up one side to make it easy to pour into your jars, no spoon required they just pour outta the screen if you do it right. 4.5 lbs. of organic rye berries from my source makes 10 jars worth of receiving jars, assuming you're planning G2G.

Don't buy "rye berries" from health food stores. You'll pay way too much. Call your local feed mills and ask for "rye grain"
It's the same thing as rye berries but the people in the feed and seed business call them rye grains. I get them for $20 for a 50 pound bag at any of my local feed Mills

I will call my local mills next time. For now I used ebay. I never buy anything from town shops anymore.
