How do I get them to be in the dark totally? Would a cardboard box work for 6 to 12 hours a day or something like that?

Sorry, I didn't elaborate on that, I have in where my living room is and we always have the tv and a light or two on in the room. So what can I do for the darkness for them and whats the least amount of darkness you guys recommend?

Alright, one more time is it ok for the cakes and shrooms to get misted directly or no? Also Im on day 4 in the FC with the same three pins I birthed and dunked with and they got bigger but will I get any other pins in the first go, or will I have to wait for the 2nd flush?

I just harvested 2 out of the 3 pins that grew and left the last one to get a little bigger the two harvested though have a light bluish almost green to them on the edges of the cap the big one is easier to see, what is it? Are they still safe to dry and consume?

Anyone? I was going to eat them soon even if they are not totally dry but need to make sure they are safe but also is the indented part of the big shroom ok? I probably harvested that one a little late?

its safe lots of fruits grow like that. If you are planning on eating them right away why dry them at all. they are better fresh.

I appreciate the reassurance but can you guys see what I was talking about especially on the big one pictured, the greenish hue near the edge of the ring of the cap? What is that? And can any of you see the pictures because they won't load for me.

When I harvest the last shroom on the cake, do I immediately dunk it again for about 12 to 24 hours in water to rehydrate it for a 2nd flush, or do I let it sit for a little while?

I dunked the cake earlier and have it sitting in cold water for the next 24 hours, after the 24 hours do I just wash it off and throw it back in the fruiting chamber. Fan and mist as normal again like the first flush correct? Also how long after being put back in the FC will it take to see the first pins forming?

After the dunk is done roll it in dry verm - then wait at least half an hour and then start misting the verm. Once the verm is moist put it in the FC. Could be anywhere from a day or two - a couple weeks to pin. Did you leave the cake in the jar consolidating? It'll usually just take longer to pin in ty FC if you don't let it consolidate for a week or so after it's fully colonized.

I already harvested off the cake once and yes I let it sit a week after 100% colonization, I don't have anymore vermiculite I used it all when making my BRF cakes I have two the other one is still colonizing. Just curious, how long before to toss it if it doesn't produce any pins at all?

oh, ya a cake can survive without the roll of the dunk n roll. Toss it if it turns green from trich, not before then. Otherwise just be patient.

So it could take 2 weeks or more to see pins?

Alright so I just checked this morning and noticed overnight I have about 15 pins I could count on the second flush of the one pictured, How much on average could I expect each shroom to weigh or even each flush?

That is impossible to answer. To all we know all those pins will abort...

I'd expect about a pound dry per pin. You should have about 15 pounds dry. Perhaps significantly less than that though

Hahaha nobody can really tell you, but 15 pins should be at least 1 blast off to wonderland even if half of 'em aborted.
