NOPE definitely not and I'm gonna be watching that KSSS because that's looking like the next one to hit grains for me. Its already like half the size of dime where everything else is just little white dots.

nice!! yes KSSS will be my next grain hit too. r u doing KSSS for this thread? I'm sry if u already mentioned ur strain earlier. it would b cool to have another ksss on here. is pasty's v tek vs bulk thread a ksss isolate?

I don't even know what I'm doing I might do a proper mono of the Aussies. Since those are on their second transfer. Although I've already got some Aussie experiments in fruiting. I might use an isolate for this log. Or I might just do a couple xfers of the KSSS and give them a go.

lemme kno. i was going to isolate the ksss from spore for this log, but if it seems I'm lagging behind ill just go with the limited genetics i have when this thread's posters start going to grain.
can everyone let us know where they stand here? it would be cool if we all got on grain within the same 3-4 day period.
edit: i mean the master jar of grain

This Friday im grabbing some jars, WBS, and more pp5s. Other than that I'm ready whenever, I will probably use the Aussies since they are the "closest" to isolate.
Although depending on where everyone else is and where my KSSS is I'll use that if I can get it as an isolate in time.
Who knows tho I have PB, EQ, KSSS, GYMS, and the Aussies all on plates and germinating, so anyone of them could take off and surpass another at any time ya know? Then there is always the chance I select a dud isolate. Hmmm IDK I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

yes, this is also my worry about isolating the ksss from spore and not from a clone. can anyone else chime in here and suggest either to continue isolating, or just noc a master up with the limited genetics from say 3rd or 4th transferred plate? i know chances are low of a non fruiting isolate, but figured i'd ask.

I might just fruit from the clusterfuck first plate. The first grow with it might suck, but with all those genetics I suppose I'm more likely to find a good one.

yea. the lazy part of me just wants to do limited genetics with ksss at first, but the neurotic part of me wants to isolate. maybe ill put a wedge on grain and do a mini bucket bulk and continue to isolate at same time for this thread.

I think I'm gonna do one transfer if I feel like it and put it to grain, then once I get fruits I'll clone and isolate from the nicest cluster. That way I've got an isolate that I know to work well.

I would always make at least one transfer and observe it carefully if I planned to inoculate. Never use agar to inoculate if said agar was inoculated with anything but a previous wedge.

qft. never used first plate to noc grains up, always second or later, though i have used a wedge to inoculate grain from a plate that was nocced up with a grain kernel. is that also a bad idea?

If the grain kernel had a contam on it it could be.

word. it had no contam (that i could see or smell in jar or on agar media) but probably best to still do one more transfer before going back to grain. pasty, do u still use smaller jars for ur donor jar when doing G2G? i remember u used to cause SAB was not tall, and I was gonna try it. gonna ask if 1 pint will be good to go for 6 qts receiving or if 2 pints better (obviously the more the better, but if its not worth the trouble, ill stick with 1)

Surw do. 6 quarts to one pint is good. You could probably stretch it further if you wanted tho, just might take longer to colonize.

Well I think 2morrow I'm gonna do my first xfer from ms of KSSS. I'm worried if I wait any longer I'm going to lose the leading edge of rhizo growth I want to take.
Also I got a question. I hope you guys know what I'm talking about. Ok so 1 of my plates, EQ I believe, has very very thin almost invisible growth coming out of the tomentose center.
The tomentose center is like half the size of a pinky nail but that near invisible growth reaches out to about the size of a dime. I believe I can get a decent piece out for transfer. Would it be wise to transfer that or wait for it to "fill in"? It looks like individual strands but its so thin you can barely see it.

i know exactly what u mean (i think) does it look really thin all around like the thin sectors of the bottom left part of this plate?

sometimes that will happen to me even if i transferred from rhizo growth if i made my agar too nutritious or included grains water in one but not the other. u could wait or transfer now, it may sprout rhizo sections on a new plate. is it the initial spore plate, or one or two down the line?
