What the hell is going on here, boys and girls?

This is the bottom of the first flush, I flipped and its been a couple days.  Is this the 2nd flush?  Or are these from the 1st flush? If from 1st, should I harvest and flip again?:thataintright:

You shouldn't flip your substrate over.

Those exposed grains are at risk for contam and the white stuff you see if most likely mycelium recovering from when you tore it up while flipping the poor thing.

it was perfectly fine when I flipped it, I did not damage it at all.  Now there are big shrooms busting thru the surface, growing from the middle of the sub

And the reason for flipping it is because?

I'll pre-emptively let you know that you'll get better flushes, less recovery time, and less contaminants if you don't do that.

No one who has a few bulk grows under their belt will flip their substrate. Colonized bulk is more fragile than a colonized BRF cake.

The mycelial network works together, there is no need to provide a "fresh" surface for fruiting to occur on, you are only damaging it when you move it around.

Don't flip it, and use a liner

I did use a liner, and I flipped it because huge shrooms were tearing the sub up.  I flipped it so they could grow.  This has all been said before... What Im asking is how to prevent the shrooms from growing sub-surface.

Aluminum foil duct tape around the area that a liner would normally block light.

Threaten your sub with push ups like RR does.
