watermelon mon said: when we use it we start from the medium heat setting and put it on high closer to the end it doesn't give off the best tasting vapor but not bad I have never noticed a plastic smell when it's heating up it just has a weed smell to it
also make sure you get out all the little pieces that come of the pipe cleaner inside of it when you clean it just takes a bit of time http://www.vapecritic.com/vaporizers/pax/
My friend had this exact model. IMO, it's a portable smoker, not a portable vaper.
I give it 3/10.

Yup thats the same thing I got, it has so many rave review online though that it's hard for me to believe that it's actually just a piece of shit, and everyone reviewing it enjoys the taste of lawn mower weed.
Once I clean the hell out of it and play around with different herb / packing / dryness I shall report back.
Any experience though by all means, keep it coming!

well you gotta pack it tight. that's what we would do. like tight tight, get something to really smash it down in there.
i also want to add, that by portable smoker i mean that i don't think it was intended to be a weed vaporizer. i just feel that it was invented to be a portable tobacco smoker, with like pipe tobacco.

I got a Pax portable vape recently, brand new and from vapeworld.com so sure it's not a knockoff, and it immediately made my herbs taste like lawn mower clippings after the first pull off it. Since then I've cleaned the shit out of it, but keep smelling a plastic like smell when it heats up.
Anyone know if its normal for portable vapes to overkill the taste of herbs immediately? And should there be a smell from the oven when heating if its clean?
If anyone has used one of these before, I'd appreciate any input, thanks!
I have a Pax by Ploom, I use it everyday. I never taste anything plastic or clippings like. But, I also have some pretty dank flavorful bud at all times. The only smell coming from the oven should be residue from vaping your herb, it'll just smell like most vaped bud.

When it was new did any of you have to go to town cleaning or running pre-burn cycles? And does your bud taste like flat almost immediately?

I didn't. Mine came partially charged, didn't plug it in or do any cleaning. Immediately popped my herb in there. No problems
Honestly I think yours might be defective.
Grind your herb as finely as you can, get it really dry and vape on low/med setting. See if that helps the taste

Yup once again after cleaning thoroughly, and this thing is like brand new, it went from heated plastic smell back to burning plastic smell immediately upon heating up. Did this the first time I tried cleaning the smell out of it too, damn it

Damn bro, is it smelling bad when it's heating up, or while you're using it? The only problem I had with the heat was when you were sucking on it to get the vape.
We used it a bunch of times, with small and big groups, no one ever complained. it just wasn't very efficient.
let me know how it smokes this time yo.

Just when it's heating up
I've actually only taken 2 pulls off it, and a small 3rd puff to confirm it tasted awful the next day, with the heat setting on orange. I then cleaned it out and noticed when heating up it smelled like burnt plastic, and after dry running it on high since Friday, which eventually mellowed the smell out to almost like a heated plastic smell.
Today I tried to clean it one last time, every component with 91% iso, and again it smells like burning plastic while heating the oven empty on high, and I set it in front of a fan for about an hour to make sure the iso was completely evaporated.
Support seems cool though, I would really be amazed if they were unable to replicate the smell, I tried pulling a slow draw while empty oven and the mouthpiece smelled like shit for 30-60 minutes - and this is new as brand new
Hopefully shelling out retail price for the warranty pays off, cause this shit sucks.

I remember we would wait till ours was purple. i would have to ask the man if he uses it anymore. long story short someone stole the thing, and wouldn't return it in full. IE the bottom piece was missing. he replaced it since then but we stopped using it after that.
who the fuck wants to replace shit some douche bag took for no reason? UGH that was frustrating.

I had to send my first one to the company. they have AMAZING customer service.. I got a brand new Pax within a week, no problems at all.
BTW dont pack your bud extremely tight it doesnt do you any favors, but definitely pack it in gently. I also only vape on High temp it gets the most vapor that I prefer.
When you hit your PAX also make sure youre sipping it, not dragging hard as fuck cause that will ruin the oven.
