Kobe's been in the league for like 15-20 years it feels like
He's got what they called an "early bird exception" where he can get 175% of a max deal if he resigns the deal before he is due to go into free agency and resigns with a team he has played with for more than 3 consecutive seasons
Kobe shouldnt have taken that much money IMO but it is what it is.

I appreciate the info and the links. I hear ya, the facts are the facts, and this is based on nothing but conjecture, but I just believe that LeBron could get around all that if that's what he was about.

Yea. I was just looking up all the player salaries which was pretty interesting. What really pissed me off is that soft, lazy, big bird looking mofucker named Pau Gasol is making 19 mil this season for sitting out games when he has "colds".
I can't stand players like that. Just wanted to vent a bit. He just kinda has a face that looks like it needs to be constantly pimp-slapped lol.

For sure. I mean championships are the only thing on his mind as far as his bball career. He makes so much money from endorsements that I'm fairly sure he'd take a base 300k a year salary if the team was guaranteed so to speak a championship.
I think the whole trade rumors are just in fact that; rumors. I mean this guy is best friends with Wade, and his other close friends are all on the team. I think the only way he leaves the Heat would be to go to NY taking Wade, and Norris Cole with him. I would say Haslem as well, but it seems to me that Udonis is on his last legs for his career even though he's not that old. He just lost his jump shot completely over the past couple years.
IMO. He's gonna be with the heat for at least 4 more years. He might end his career in Cleveland a about a decade from now.

Nah he couldnt have since he didnt stay with his previous franchise. He signed I believe a 5 year contract after leaving Cleveland in which the most he could have made (based on the NBA salary cap that year) was 20.5 million a year. Cleveland had the ability to offer him something like 24-25 million being his designated team
But regardless, I get what your saying. He did take a slight pay cut and Kobe took all the money he possibly could

I think the grizzlies are a real dark horse this year. They'll come out of nowhere but before you know it *BAM*, they'll be taking the thunder to 7 games in the conference finals.

Memphis has been solid the past 3-4 years really but being in the West is rough, they will have a hard time just sneaking into the playoffs

I've been surprised at how much the Nets have rebounded since the beginning of the season. Looks like they are starting to click as a team.
Watched them play a couple times this past week and they're looking like a legit contender for a fun 1st round playoff series against whoever they end up playing.
Also, yea, Memphis has the talent, and it has been there for several years now. It's just not enough. I'm not quite sure what the missing piece is over there, but they are fun team to watch play.

Exactly why they are a dark horse. With Gasol back and Lee adding perimeter shooting, they have improved grossly in the last 2 weeks. They are better now than ever. They have won 5 in a row and are looking very sharp all of a sudden. Not many will know this, even when playoff time comes around.
I am a committed grizzlies fan so this is definitely coming from a homer, but I promise you they have a habit of surprising the rest of the NBA because every year we are written off.

I don't think you guys are written off at all. I see the Grizz as a potential threat in the West every year for the past 4-5 years. Marc Gasol is a hell of a center. Zach Randolph is also hugely under-appreciated IMO.
I wouldn't be surprised to see your team make it to the WCF's.

I never write off Memphis either and I have often said that Marc and Zach are the best 4-5 combo in the NBA
They fucked up getting rid of Rudy Gay though

Eh, Rudy was incredibly inefficient. The consensus among most Griz fans is that we are better without him. Not much emphasis is placed on flashiness here. Glad to know we aren't counted out by the more knowledgeable NBA fans! Perhaps "sharp" is not the best word but "gritty". Means the same thing for them though.
If I ignore my griz fandom, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Blazers-Pacers championship though.
I think the NBA places way too much emphasis on individual players rather than how a unit performs together (case and point the Lakers last year).

Blazers - Pacers would be great but I think the Blazers will disappoint during the playoffs. They need this season to gain some playoff experience and maybe next year they make the finals.

clips picking up Hedo Türkoğlu is an exciting move, he can put up points in the 4th to relieve the pressure on cp3
hopefully they all stay healthy, i see them making the western finals, maybe beyond

Wow that's optimistic. The west is so tough, it could just as well be a first round exit.

Sunday game. Heat Vs Spurs in Miami. Half way through the first. Half the floor seats empty.
