so i made up some petri containers. its MEA recipe M39. i put 30ml into each container.

i pressure cooked them for 30 minutes at 15psi. at the same time i cut the burners off on my oven i moved the cooker in front of my flow hood (flow hood had been run for 2 hours). i waited for the pressure to hit 0 psi and unlock. then i took off the cover and twisted the lids on tight. im going to leave them to cool until tomorrow.

tomorrow i will then Lysol my flow hood, stainless workspace, table and filter face. i will run my filter for 2 hours and then open my containers. invert them to dump out the condensation and expose them for 30 seconds.

question should i just pick the lid off or should i pick up the containers and orientate the top facing the filter?

so i cleaned the filter box workspace and table with lysol. and proceded to the test
filter had run for at least 2 hours. i have sprayed the filter face at least 5 times with lysol the several days

*i opened 4 of them in front of the flowhood in their upright postion for 30 seconds

*i opened 4 of them and held them like a catchers mit with the opened side of the container facing the filter

i left one alone as sort of a control

how many days do i have to wait for all the potential contams to germinate and become visible if present?

Contams germinate pretty fast in my experience within 3-4 days you'll see something probably, a week isn't a bad idea though.

so its been 3.5 days since i exposed them.

at 2.5 days i noticed 1 single fungal spot. at day 3.5 it showed green spores. i think this could have been operator error, im going to really soak my filter face in lysol and procede with my work in front of the filter. ill update at day 7

So is this on all of them, or just one?  If just one, which one(Hoping you numbered them as I suggested, which the reason for is to find out how long you had to keep the flowhood running before you saw uncontaminated results.)

Thanks, and more then happy to help in any way.  I go hiatus at times when RL speeds up, but I try to at least click on my bookmark once a day.  Things that I didn't document or write up, people have for me(Frank for example, and also gives proper credit).  I have wanted to do one more grow, just small, to write some things but not possible.  Maybe down the road :crazy2:

sorry i misunderstood what you were suggesting earlier but i now see your point.
i ran my flowhood for a little over 2 hours as i always do. i tested them all at this point to see the results. i am now at almost 6 days and still only see one spot of green mold, i belive my technique that day could have been to blame( i went into the tent wearing street clothes i had wore all day and did not take a shower, i also did not use tyvek wrist sleves).

i will test a dozen more petri containers in a day or so out of curiosity, using the correct labware. exposing and labeling at different intervals as you suggest.

Spraying the front of the hood wouldn't compromise the the material of the filter?  I always assumed it was paperish.
