I also had some questions about how to "dunk" with rye seed and flushing. What is the best way to dunk a rye seed substrate and when I harvest my first batch of Mushies do I just let the mycelium regrow and it will fruit again or do I need another incubation period to let the mycelium regrow where I have already plucked the mushies?
I would attach Images but I am not really sure how.

What your referring to is a g2g transfer but I wouldn't risk trying it on those two jars. Make fresh jars and re prep grains if you want to do a g2g. As far as the dunking what are you planning to do with the rye? Spawn it to what and what kind of fc are you planning to use ?

I would like to have them fruit more than once but I am not sure that it is possible. I have tried to do my research on it but there doesn't seem to be that much info on it. I have small containers inside of a bigger tub that I will be using so that I can use perlite on the bottom for the humidity. I will also be using vermiculite as my casing for my rye grain.

Type all those terms (ones you plan on using) into the search bar and you should find quite a bit of info on here. fruiting more than once would be second and third flushes. FC's with perlite are "usually" SGFC. I don't think verm by itself would work well as a casing, but you should look that up too

Thank you sir. I will look these up. Is there any suggestion that you have as far as the casing is concerned? I have looked up dunking for rye grain but had little luck finding anything on it.

Is there any reasons that you guys can think of that my others did not germinate? I am guessing that the substrate was packed to tightly because I (really don't remember) don't think that I shook the jars once I took the out of the pc or when I inoculated them.

maybe ya didn't shake the syringe before each hole. I had some do the same man. Next thing ya know, 3 weeks later, they started.
I've never cased anything before, but with cubes, i heard you don't HAVE to, but if you do you'll keep more moisture, and increase your chances of better flushes....but that's what i've read on here, and that doesn't mean that it's the rules. You'll find you have to read about the same topic 4 or 5 times over before the real deal starts to show through, unless you get answers from a TC or someone else you find knowledgeable. There are many on here. Keep reading bro.

Thanks man. Yea I am reading some right now about flushing and seeing how people are doing it. I don't believe I shook it in between holes but I will make a note of that next time I use one. I believe I will just do a g2g for my next try at growing because i have live culture going. Thanks again for all the information

The tin foil is used to cover the holes that I used for inoculation. What kind of contamination do you think it is?

No i didnt use a filter. I just did the two holes before I pressure cooked them and wrapped them in foil. Also some of these jars have been shaken a little rough in order to try to break some of the clumps down.

Really? And you don't know where the bacteria contaminant could have came from..

I'm not saying that there isn't a contamination. That is why I am asking questions and looking for help. Again I have looked at contamination and done research on what I could find. And some of these jars I shook really really hard.Quote:

Poly? Also I took every precaution that I could to try and be as sterile as possible. This is my first time trying to grow mushrooms.

What kind of Contam do you think this is? Specifically so that I can do research on how to prevent it for next time. There is no smell coming from my Tub that I have the jars in and I will be sure to smell them and make sure I smell no odor before I try and fruit them.

to prevent it's simple, use a filter material, far too many contams out there to tell you for sure

So to begin with I prepared my jars with rye and water with the foil on top. Pressure cooked the jars for 1hr at 15psi. Had to do this a few times because cooker only fit 5 jars. When they were done I took them into a bathroom that I sprayed with bleach, everywhere and cleaned everything too. I took the jars out of the pressure cooker and left them in the bathroom why I did the other jars. After they cooled, I sprayed the air again and counter with bleach as well as the inside of the tub I am using and the box that I used to hold my jars. I turned off the air before this, I then took the foil off the tops of the jars, flamed the tip of the needle that I was using and proceeded to inoculate the jars. I had to move them from one location to other location after the whole procedure. Out into the cold and to another place. Living situation was shitty. Never taking them out of the tub or box and never removing the foil. Again other than being forced to move them from location to location. Tried to be as sterile as possible. Also I know that moving them was not the best idea but I had no other choice.

look up a soak and simmer tek for your grains, much better results with a 24 hour soak and a simmer, also look into building a still air box for best results and always use a filter material like pollyfill or tyvek or synthetic filter discs

Try making a sab. (still air box) It will help you reduce contaminants and you wont have to do it in a unsterile bathtub. (no matter how many times you spray it) And does it have a filter on it?

Awesome. I will look into these. I might have to get another syringe because if my batch in contaminated I don't want to use them, but i also don't have the money for another syringe at the moment. :/ But I will try to be more sterile in my next batch that I do.

I use gauze pads and cut them up in four. (they unfold) Then I put them on the disc with the holes and screw my lid over top it all... Works awesome.. I have issues with tape and polyfill... I don't know why it works fine I just have issues with any kind of sticky shit and sticking it honestly! lol

Try making a sab. (still air box) It will help you reduce contaminants and you wont have to do it in a unsterile bathtub. (no matter how many times you spray it) And does it have a filter on it?
No I didn't know that I was suppose to use a filter. I didn't find this sites material until after I started my project.

Awesome. I will look into these. I might have to get another syringe because if my batch in contaminated I don't want to use them, but i also don't have the money for another syringe at the moment. :/ But I will try to be more sterile in my next batch that I do.
Pc you syringe! it will be fine. Assuming it doesn't have non autoclavable plastic on it

Sorry I ment use my grains that I have now. I have a syringe that I got in December but won't be able to do another batch for another 2 weeks and don't know if the spores will still be good. They have been stored in a room that doesn't get very warm. So I figured that they wouldn't be any good by now.

Now say that I go to fruit them. I don't smell any really sweet or bad smells and I fruit some. Is there anything that I should look for in my fruits before I try them out to make sure that I am not going to hurt myself? I know that some will have black spots on the tops right? but aborts will also have a black line from the base to the tip correct?
