Germination/Mycelium How long? type question

So I know roughly how long it's supposed to take before I started seeing mycelium growth against the glass however I have a slight problem, the needles that came with my spore syringes were not long enough to go through the verm barrier and against the glass for inoculation so what I had to end up doing was just going directly down to make sure needle was in BRF/verm mix. So my question is if I'm using BRF cakes and half pint jars while growing cubensis from spore syringes (not lc)how much extra time do you think it will take before seeing mycelium as I wasn't able to inoculate against the glass?
I inoculated the jars roughly 5 days ago not worried about not seeing it yet as I know plenty of time still to go however just curious to know how much extra time might take before I see signs of mycelium

In my opinion it could take one to several weeks since you have to wait for it to reach the glass... Plus you won't know whether its growing or not during the whole time.

It is very possible you won't see any growth for a LONG time. It just depends on how the mycelium grows within. It may prefer the warmer climate of the interior and not grow out towards the glass until there's nowhere else for it to grow. Frankly, you just won't know until you see it. My advice is to let them sit for as long as it takes, could be months, and get some longer syringes while you wait. Keep in mind that if anything goes wrong, it may take just as long for that to rear its ugly head.

Thanks guys... Not really a problem I guess I'll just wait and see and yes get longer needles.

Okay so good news!
I have three strains going B+, Cambodia and Golden Teacher. B+ has some visible mycelium (or so I hope it is) growing towards the glass.
I've read that B+ is quite a slow colonizing strain so I'm thinking perhaps it prefers the colder substrate near the glass as it's quite cold in my house (almost too cold, no heating and a cold winter).
So am I looking good? I'm feeling more relaxed and won't be touching the jars again until fully colonized.

I can barely see it. It looks a little wispy. Just check on it in 3 days, W/O picking the jar up. If its covered your jar its cobweb. If not your good and leave them be for another 5 or 6 days.

Yeah not much at all yet. Was just excited to see white!
I will check back in 3 days, thanks.
I know I shouldn't of picked it up but couldn't help my self too much excitement. I shall be more disciplined in the future haha.

Looks like mine did. I didn't have a needle problem.
I had a herp derp problem and just willy nilly injected forgetting to do it up against the glass.

Lol yea man I know how you feel. Its ALOT easier said then done. I usually tell people the same thing I was told. "Whenever you feel like looking at them start something else. Noc up some jars, play with agar, anything! Repeat as necessary." The only "problem" with that is you end up with alot of projects lol.

Grats on the white stuff! I like to pick my jars up too much, too... It never gets old even though we all know the more you watch the slower they grow. Just sport gloves, your mask, and careful not to shake them! OCD is awesome for this game. Anywho, I believe your cold temperatures may be slowing you down more than not reaching the glass with your needle. You certainly don't need an incubator, but as some one who's "room temperature" is mid 60's, I wouldn't want to give mine up.

Nahh you just trippin I say it every time I see people playing with their BRF jars. That's where its mostly a problem because of compacting.
It bugs the hell outta me when I tell people to leave them be for x days. Then in half that time they come back "why isn't the bottom colonizing" *sigh*
There are no mistakes unless you didn't learn something from it.

Wish I had read that like the first week my shiz was colonizing because I was touching it way to much and now I gotta cut up some super slow cakes and put em to agar soon.

yep and I did the same thing when I was doing the PF tek. Its probably the single most common mistake amongst noobs. That and the wrong jars.

Well it's quite a few days later and good news is it's for sure mycelium and not cobweb mold (not spreading super fast and is now looking very ropey). Thanks everyone for keeping me sane. All 3 variations of cubensis have visible mycelium now.
