Rehydrating Pinning Cakes

Hello all, I'm currently cultivating 10 BRF cakes in a SGFC. After about 2 1/2 weeks and applying a wax paper canopy, I have a few cakes with some solid pins growing. It's been about 3-4 days and I can tell that they've grown in the morning, but I'm thinking that the cakes are drying out due to the heavy pin set. I am planning on placing those cakes in a saucer of water for about 8-12 hours as recommended by RR. I only have one concern that I could not find by searching. One of these cakes has pins coming from the bottom of the cake and I'm worried about "drowning" them if I place the cake in a saucer of water. I'm just curious if this will be detrimental to my little guys. As always, I appreciate the help.

pins are fine to dunk so watering won't be an issue, they usually triple in size during a dunk so water away

no! don't stab your cakes lol just a little bit of water in the saucer and pile some moist verm on top, and never distiled for anything other then syringes and agar! gravity will draw moisture from the verm on top over time and bottom watering will help support your pinset

Muchas gracias. Do you suggest a saucer of water as well as moist verm on top? Just wanna make sure it's not overkill.

Injecting actually works alright. It doesn't need to be sterile water, just normal tap water. You also don't in one spot but a little in multiple spots around the cake. 5-10cc per cake.
There's nothing wrong with the saucer method or anything either.
Also that's just for mid flush, you should give your cakes a full dunk between flushes.

When I first started I left a cake in a bathroom I was remodeling for a few days sitting out, it dryed out cracker dry...
It turned blue and I thought it was lost - But I soaked it for two days, it started pinning underwater and I made a nice flush from it believe it or not.
Cool story, bro.. I know.
Just figured I would speak to the resilience of this species.

They are placed on pp5 lids. I accidentally hit a pin against the edge of the lid, so I'm hoping they little guy can forgive me.
