nice! didn't realize u had a thread on this, just saw a pic of it from u in another thread and figured it was a one time pic.
looks great!
also, don't know if u still wanna do bags or not (from the 1st couple posts on this thread), but i also had no tyvek sleeves, so i just cut a tyvek envelope to size and stuck it in the bag like the sleeve, folded accordion, rubber bands to hold it down, then plate on top, pc 2.5 hours, SAB G2G. works ok, but maybe b beginners luck for me with bags.

i hope the top grains didn't dry out, but just thought id chime in with that worked for me. im excited to try reishi, ur thread makes me wanna try even more!

Tyvek envelopes are pretty much non existant in Canada

Liking the way these are looking. I'm gonna guess that my FAE is too low, so I am preparing to see antlers eventually, but these suckers already got some nice mass, not even sure how you harvest these bad boys. Twist and pull sure ain't gonna work, but even the scissors I usually use don't look up to the task.

good question. Seems like the cube method would destroy the coir/verm sub for sure. Maybe one flush per side (flip it over.maybe) is all you can get.
Guess you gotta wait for Forester to chime in.

Honestly I was thinking about that earlier, with THAT many fruits across the surface harvesting is gonna be rough
You've got a while before you gotta worry about it though.
And even if they do have enough air lucidum likes to grow a stem first anyway so you may still get conks when it decides it wants to. If there's not enough air for conks you'll get weird blobs with pores on them.

Because you are surface fruiting I would minimize FAE. When the antlers get to be around 3 inches tall open up the container and let the conks form on top. Harvesting will be a bitch if you don't.

Nice grow. Looks like you'll need a chain saw to cut the entire surface off that tub. Kick ass!

Beautiful
What was the RH when you did that? Did you just fruit in open air, no chamber? The RH in my house is ridiculously low. . . I would like to giver a shot with at least one tub for sure however.

I have like 0% RH here in the winter too. Constantly fighting with it!
With the sideways tub, if you just leave off the lid and replace it with a sheet of painter's plastic with a bunch of x's cut into it you can get pretty close to conks. Just do lots of nickel-size x's and you can mist daily through one of them. You can get a whole roll of the painters plastic for like $3 at home depot, or just use a clear trash bag.

I set them in an outdoor shelve covered in shade cloth. Inside got misted 3-4 times during a day. probably around 70% humidity. They like to get rained on. I used to just open up the shelve and spray them directly with the hose. keeping the blocks low to the ground and keeping the ground around it and the mushrooms wet usually does the trick.

Wish I could do that but the 2 feet of snow might hurt me in the long run
These are starting to gain some height but are also still pretty thick.

Forrester sent me over to check out this thread and boy I'm glad I did. I'm looking to start a reishi monotub my self and this is definitely an inspiration. Definitely some dense fruiting going on there. I'm definitely interested in seeing how they progress. good job!
