Can I inoculate grains that have already been inoculated and failed?

Some Atlantis in pint jars failed to grow any mycelium in 6 weeks. I suspect a faulty syringe. Can I re-inoculate with some mL's of my Mex A syringe into the same dry jars? In theory, it seems like it would work but I couldn't find a definite answer on here.
Thanks all

Sweet dude. I'm gonna try out a Mex A this time, see if I can do a grain to grain transfer later in a mycobag. Thanks!

I have reinoculated jars before with great success. unfortunately the most common problem I've had is that the water content has diminished considerably by the time I try reusing them and need to add a few cc's of sterile water to the jars before adding more spores.

Okay, I see. I'm only trying to grow stones this time, and I've heard that lower water concentration is preferable for invitro stones. I think I will add maybe 1cc of water, and reinoculate today. I can't really re-sterilize, because my sister broke my pressure cooker and I can't afford a new one

It's possible to steam sterilize to resterilize them. All you need is a large pot. Would definitely make your chances of success much higher. Possibly use a couple extra drops of spore solution if your using MS.

Too late haha. I already knocked up my 8 jars. Hopefully I won't get a contam, but whatever. Forgot I could steam sterilize.
If this gets contaminated, I'll buy a new PC and restart.
Does anyone have any tips for a good bulk Tek? This was my first grow attempt so I'm pretty darn new. My plan was [roughly] to after 100% colonization, get two large mycobags, and in a glove box, do a grain to grain transfer of the colonized jars. Then just sit back, and watch the stones grow. Of course I'll research it more before I just go ahead, but any suggestions for later?

Not true. Fact is that they need well hydrated grains to keep them moist during a long colonization period. They are a lot slower than cubes and you shouldn't shake them either. I would suggest using those grains for either cubes or not at all.
Also, I have yet to successfully colonize anything inoculated with ms syringe. The only jars that I have ever had finish were inoculated with agar. Sclerotia producers are sooo slow, and so prone to stalling, that you really want to get the jump with a strong culture. Don't need to isolate persay, but 3 transfers minimum to weed out some of the slower genetics would be a good idea.
Finally, due to their dislike of shaking, I'm not sure how well they will respond to the G2G expansion. I say give it a try with one jar to see what happens before you commit others.

I don't know that I'd recommend doing a G2G on your first grow. Sterile procedure takes practice. I'd start with something easier for your first grow or two.

Just what I was looking for! Honestly I shouldn't have gotten syringes from a non-sponsor, I got them before I joined here. Now I know! On to better days from here on out...

Or try a BRF agar substitute and then you can know that's clean and just add sterile water and make a simple mycelium water.

If you do it use brown rice flour not ground up rice and 1 tspn BRF to 2 1/2 tspn water. Doesn't hurt to add some food colouring so it's easier to see the myc.

I'm researching more and more on this site for possible options. Agar...maybe liquid culture, the BRF Agar substitute Vikingsc suggested...
UPDATE: I have clean Mex A mycelium growth in 8 out of 8 of my re-inoculated Rye Grain jars after 7 days! I'm staying optimistic for no contams hopefully, and continuing the gathering of information on this site! Thanks again everyone

I had some 1/2 pint jars of wbs inoculated with a gt spore syringe. 4 weeks in the incubator and no signs of life, my lids have an injection port, wiped it with alcohol and shot up with an A+ LC syringe i made. Fully colonised in 7 days. And if any gt spores survive then happy days, mixed crop

They are growing reasonably slow, but there is SURE progress. I wish I could provide pictures. I'll try to get some pictures this coming weekend. The mycelium is not particularly strong/thick, but not exactly super thing and wispy. Kinda in between. They still have a long way to go, hopefully they don't stall. No signs of contams at all so far. Its been almost 2 weeks.
The main thing to decide now is when/if to shake them. Pictures [hopefully] soon to come!
