Looks like you got a couple tiny ones popping up too
I wonder if it will be mostly hollow or mostly full?

yea there's about 10-20 starting all around the jar now. I would imagine it's going to be quite hollow given the girth of the stipe.

True, but it looks like its jump off point is larger than normal.
Don't know the term for base of stem...?

We'll just call it where the cock meets the balls, or the base of the stem. I'll dissect it when it's ready for harvest probably with my teeth

That is one slow growing fruit it seems. Its been what, a week about?, my invitro experiment popped out mature fruits in like 5 or 6 days.

After massacring my experiment, I dumped some water in and let it sit back down.
You going to try for a second flush?

I'll keep watering it as needed and let it go until it contams or rots or whatever else.

I've done this before many times with varying success and I always got at least 4 flushes out of each jar even 6 flushes in 2 different jars with less fruits in each flush after the 2nd. when you water make sure not to let the water puddle and sit for long periods or it will leave a brown slimy spot around the bottom of the grain IME. I also noticed if you let the jar consolidate for around a month and a half or even longer the mushrooms will be extremely potent in tiny doses, I tripped Balls on just 2 small to medium sized mushrooms grown this way.

I meant to add that the fruits seem to grow fairly large and long, the biggest fruits I've ever had have come from this type of in-vitro jar often growing an inch or more out the top of the jar but no matter how much room the caps had to open up none of my caps fully matured or opened fully and produced spores. I'd like to add that the mushrooms will eventually grow lower and lower down the sides of the grain making them harder to pick without significant damage to the substrate.

Hey! How it's going the experiment? Still flushing? I'm amazed I just have a grain jar that started to pin invitro and entered the site to get some advice... and found this thread! YEAH! That's GREAT to have sites like this...
I'm not sure if I'll add a casing layer, but provided your published results it's worth trying to reproduce your experiment... Anyway, any advice about casing? I would prefer something simple, perhaps 50/50 coco/verm? I know (from theory) about more elaborate casings, but I would like to keep as simple as possible... so most probably I will go with any... but just for advice... thanks everybody! PS: I'll try to add a picture if you allow me to do it

it's much better to just spawn the grain to a shallow tray and put a casing on it you'll greatly improve your yields. This was just done for the hell of it

It's been my experience that 750mL volume of prepared grain yields much better divided into 3 quart containers, cased and watered inside them, than in one quart container then broken-up and lain out cased in a tray with no good watering method
