Intense lucid dream...
    #1942788 - 09/23/03 12:20 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I haven't posted here in a while but I just have to share this experience. Consider this like a trip report, because it was more enlightening than any trip on a drug I've ever had. A few nights ago I had what I'm sure was my first lucid dream. I've gone lucid for tiny bits of time some nights and have "known" I was dreaming many other times, but this experience was absolutely mind-blowing.

It started when I "woke up" with sleep paralysis. I get this many times a week, so I'm so familiar with this state that I know when I'm having it and can manipulate it very easily (I can decide to go back to sleep or wake up if I want to). But this time I forgot the method to wake up (which I remembered afterwards is to move your eyes), so I started flailing my arms around. I moved each arm around and could see each one very clearly, which I found unusual for sleep paralysis. I brought both arms into view above me, and then suddenly I woke up. I woke up but not into the "real" world. This really confused me, because I felt as conscious as I would when I'm awake. My conscious awareness was equal to that of this world. I could look, move, talk, and do anything I wanted, so the feeling I had entering this other world was that it wasn't a dream. I was sure (and still am) that I'd really had woken up in another world instead of the one I'm familiar with every day. I was fully aware of the "real" world, which made me a little afraid. I was sure that I was no longer dreaming and that my soul had wandered into an alternate universe by accident. That's the feeling I had thoughout the whole "dream", to give you an idea of how it felt.

Anyway, I raised myself up from my bed and looked out the window next to me, but the street down below was no longer there. Instead I found myself staring out into some sort of post-apocalyptic fantasy world. I was inside some sort of fortress complex, with a castle forming part of the wall at the top of a hill in the distance. It all seemed very familiar to me, and I had that feeling of "coming home." I walked outside into the courtyard and watched in amazement. There were workers walking around carrying iron beams, reenforcing the stone walls. Three men walked toward me carrying a metal beam. They looked at me like an old comrade whom they hadn't seen in a long time. The bearded red-haired man in front looked very familiar, like a good friend. I couldn't remember my relationship to him though so I just said Hi as they passed by. He smiled and said the same. Then I wandered into an semi-underground garage where a mechanic was fixing up cars. The whole time I'm gazing wide-eyed at everything. There was so much detail. I stared in wonder for a minute at the sun shining through a window onto an intricate spiderweb in this garage. It looked so real. I began wondering about the process of how I got to this real/dream world. It seemed to just be matter of constructing it in your mind, and then just putting yourself there... sort of like a day dream. At this point I realized that I had created this world in my head somehow, and knew that anyone could do this, create any kind of world they want and dwell within it. I began to think of the possibilites... and what's funny is one of the first things I thought of trying next was a sex fantasy.

I'm still watching the car mechanic while thinking about this, and then I get worried, because I feel a sudden obligation to return to the "real" world. I'm wondering and hoping that I can still go back there. I wanted to stay in this place but I felt obliged that people needed me elsewhere. At this point a man comes up to me who looks to be of Native/Central American descent. He's quietly smiling at me, as if he knows exactly what I'm thinking, and I knew he was. This is the second time I met him, because I remember him at that point from a passive dream earlier in the night. He says to me: "You are more comfortable here. Black is your history. You are the navigator." The only part that made sense to me was the first part, because I felt much more at peace in this other world than in the "real" world. When he said this I realized he's some sort of important dream/spirit guide. He was walking away up a set of stairs, so I begin to follow him to ask him questions about what exactly is going on, but I didn't want to seem too eager or bother him too much. So I just end up asking him, "Can I follow you around? Can I ask you some things? What should I do?" He replies simply with a smile and "See you around." A couple seconds later the world fades away and I'm back in bed with sleep paralysis. I was aware of what was going on the whole time, and at this point I wanted to wake up rather than go back to more dreaming, so I force myself to wake and recognize my surroundings.

Now for the weirdest part. When I woke up I knew this world was also a "dream." I was certain of it, and still am. I knew this world and all other dream/altered states are of equal "reality." I've been using "real" in quotes because I now know that this world is no more real than anything else in your consciousness. It's just that this one persists even when we don't want it. We are stuck in this world only for the sake of learning, before we move onto to other experiences.

I wonder sometimes what it would be like to be able to control your dreams and have dream lives on a constant basis. The question is: Which life would you choose, the phsyical life on earth and all it wonders, OR would you live forever in your head in your astral dream world where you could do anything from traveling the universe, to being whatever famous person you wanted to be, and to: possibilities are endless. I say that like you HAD to choose one, im sure you could live both lives perfectly well, Im mean you have to do something while your awake. But it makes you wonder about all those people who go of into the wilderness for 10 years to find enlightenment, and they go out and deprive themselves of society and probally live in dream worlds and converse with spirits.... arg this is becoming a ramble : )  :stoned:

Great, dream report Max Headrom (c-c-computerized personality  ).

I had a lucid dream of that intensity for about 6 or 7 seconds, the night i first tried shrooms. My limbs felt heavy and colors were bright.
Feeling weird with denial over the reality of the situation, I said "this..just..isnt right.". I panicked and it was over with. Im starting to envy you guys who can sustain coherent lucid dreams for long periods of time...

So...what was the sex fantasy you were considering?  Gwen stefani, wet and slippery in a bubbly warm spa perhaps? heh eheh.. shame shame

Dreams are so intresting to me because of what you said, we basicly "materialize" these realities in out minds and at the moment they are "real" because you can smell, feel, hear, and see. All factors that decide wether something is "real" or not while awake. Maybe someone was tripping in the future and you happened to be traveling the stral plane of your mind and possesed him. All possablities. Its funny because just the other night i also had the most lucid dream to date. I also woke up with sleep paralisis, (wich i hate, but i am fully aware of the state while on it) and then stepped into this realistic dream that i was walking down a dark ally on a city, but i wasnt scared because it felt like i had been down this neighboorhood everyday. I completley knew i was in a dream, wich the realization usually comes to me half way in a dream but this time i could tell when i fell into this dream and as soon as it started after the paralisis i was like "damn, im in a dream again, oh well" Fully aware that i was in a dream i was looking at everything really closely and amazed at how my mind was able to recreate something so down to the detail. Anyway the dream oviously took a pornographic turn from here like most times i realize im dreamin. lol, but this time i was swering to god that i had fell into another realituy in my brain, it was reeally fun exept for the sleep paralisis at the begening, i never tried moving my eyes by the way, does that work to wake up? i always move my fingers slowly and try to fall of the bed a little so i can wake up. How do you guys handel it?

"'What should I do?' He replies simply with a smile"

heh that's cool - I think he was telling you that you're in charge - you're the navigator of the dreamscape. I've had several dreams where they kind of "fall apart" at some point and I realize I'm dreaming. The people in the dream then "fall out of character" and sometimes pull me back into a dreamy state by "staying one step ahead" of me.. another time there were two guys who I ended up at a library with who started laughing at me, mocking me - it felt like they were laughing at how they had me fooled for a while and thisalmost suck me back into a dream but they then just kind of stopped moving and were looking at me shrugging like "uhh what do you want? uhh what's the plan man you're in charge.." - they didn't say that but that's kind of the vibe I was getting. I'm going way off-topic now I think but heh you triggered a lot of stuff

I've noticed that basically everything that happens in my dreams is an event.. Its a stream of activity happening the whole time heh I'm never just sitting somewhere very boring drinking water alone - Its CONSTANTLY FASCINATING.. even in lucid dreams, I'm not as engrossed as I am with "deep dreaming" or whatever you'd call it heh

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

I recently entered a lucid dream while meditating...which
was a first for me, most of my past lucid dreams have been
through realizing in the dream that it's a dream.
In any case, in this lucid dream I was blessed by some
holy lama...sigh my need for spiritual reassurance is
so painfully obvious to me...:(

being blessed by a lama or a buddhist is meaning you are the one to ascend to the 4th dimension i have had this dream many times only a 3rd of the population will have a dream or some kind of clue that they are going to ascend. the other 3rd will die and the last 3rd will stay here on earth to work on and heal the earth

I ve had a few lucid dreams and i gotta say they are the most intense experiences i ve ever had in my life. They do raise questions about what is actually "real" or think is "real".
Anyways I ve been to a message board about lucid dreaming one time and heard of a guy who was actually able to lucid dream at will and had actually created his own dream world. who knows maybe we all are dream characters in someones dream.

I believe that it only has that meaning because we give it that meaning. Everyone's dreams are completely subjective, depending on their mind, which is paralled by no other mind. I don't think anyone else can "decide" what something in our dreams means. Like "the lightbulb burnt out, that means that you are having a lot of stress and it is overwhelming you" or some shit.

The only person that dreams our dreams are us, and our dreams are completely unique to us. They have any meaning we give them.
Peace.
