Casing recipes
    #19423369 - 01/15/14 03:15 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Anyone got any casing recipes broken down for just one tub. Rather than how the 50/50+ has it for 3-6 tubs.

I also have been searching all last night for OP's that have info on them. I found a few nice links but tons on back and forth info.

Right now i have http://www.espoma.com/p_consumer/org_trad_overview.html \

I read somewhere that is has to high mg level.

If i can find the recite i can take it back haha. But if anyone could help point me in the right direction. I cant find anything on casing mixtures. Especially when it comes up on the argument of which to use, lime, calcium carb, or oyster shells. I have access to all of those and gypsum.

Potting soil, no additives...
2 quart containers, loaded up as high as we would with grains, should do a tub nicely.

Well i have a shit load of peat and verm and gypsum. might as well go switch this organic lime out for hydrated lime. with the right levels. Anyone got a specific level of how much to put? i dont have a ph meter? i was thinking  it says just a little of each in this tek http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18880716/fpart/1/vc/1

so if i mixed 50/50 peat/verm and just threw 1teaspoon of gypsum/lime per cup of peat ill be good?

Check for the organic jiffy mix seed starter when you look for lime.

It's relatively common at garden stores in my area.

It saves me a lot of hassle. I don't like working with straight hydrated lime.

Isn't that the idea with the lime? Less that 5% magnesium oxide?

And to check my math in gonna make 12cups of peat, 12cups of verm, 57.6 teaspoons of gypsum, 12teaspoons lime..

I read somewhere you take 10% the amount of peat, for your gypsum amount. And then you also want to do 1teaspoon per cup of peat? Sound logical?

So this is what my casing ended up looking like. Also wanted to check that this kind of garden gypsum is okay? its the same brand as the old garden lime i had was, so i just wanted to make sure.

Also my casing came out super wet, but to miosture content, and it was clumping up. It felt right when it comes to moisture content, its just my first casing and i want to be successful  It kinda felt like a giant BRF bag haha.
