looking good man!!
is that one of those grow kits?    only asking cause the staples on the top look like one my dad has and that little spray bottle he got with the kit looks like the one in the pic.

i keep mine in open air also, just a fogger humidifier near it.  mist the shit out of it every time u remember.  i let mine go a full day one time with no misting and this happened

Holy shit! You can fruit oysters in open air?!? Damn I have to try this! I can have them in my kitchen and I'll just pick them right off the brick when I'm hungry. Om nom nom.

Yeah it's the same kit,lol..it was given to me recently.. I am going to produce a spore syringe from this and begin ms inoculations leading into isolations on agar...then once I have a library of cultures I'm going to produce large straw logs and test them for remediation properties...

sounds awesome!  i'd guess it to be an isolate as is now, but u mean u want to get an ms project going to see what the different isolates from that MS can do with bioremediation?

man thats dedication!

yes u can fruit in open air, but like the above pic, be very careful when they are maturing because edges can and will crack if Rh not optimal.  when they are pins, frequent misting seems to be enough till they get to the size in the OP.  Forrester is awesome at doing edibles/oysters he will have way more info.  i have only just begun oysters like 2 months ago, so I'm hesitant to even give advice, just anecdotal/experience reports from my own projects

That's pretty cool, maybe I'd hang them over the sink and keep the basin full so the water would evaporate up and towards the brick... Or maybe I'll just stick with my greenhouse since I just spent so much money building it. Lol, if my greenhouse ever gets full I'll have to try it.

Fruited in open air, straw logs. One of my first goes with goldies, I didn't have room in my GH at the time so I just cut slits and let em go.

Make sure to put plastic wrap over the top to trap some humidity, give them a misting every day, maybe twice depending on how dry your air is. Exchange the air under there every so often, you can see mine are stretching out a bit, but the RH is good.

edit: hey nakor, why did you buy a kit? Just get some hardwood fuel pellets and filter patch bags, plus some wheat bran too. Tek in my sig.

Shiitake logs are pretty neat (and delicious) decorations. You can make them easily with plug spawn or order them already colonized for pretty cheap.

Not my idea, it's an old-school technique. RR mentions it in one of his videos. It works great in lieu of a proper FC :awesomenod:

Decorations for inside I assume? It's been 15 below recently so I don't think any fungus would make it out there right now unfortunately. Haha.

indeed... I'm misting them almost every time I go in the kitchen...but not drenching them...I drench them before bed and before leaving for school..but otherwise I give them a couple squeezes off the mister every time I walk in the kitchen basically....depending on how moist they feel to the touch on the backs of my fingers...I try to use good judgement and maintain a cool, moist surface on the caps, but not dripping...

perfect.  in addition to trying to get prints, u should get a clone or two, and then u can grow that out for fun too.  its likely an isolate.

Those aren't wattman filters...those are injection ports only...the filter is just a plain white filter disk...wattman filters are syringe filters..

Nice oysters! Those look healthy.

I've thought about growing oysters. I have too many areas close to my house where they naturally occur to justify cultivating them, at the moment. If I want some, I can pretty much take a 45 second walk and have em.

Man,  I don't know why it is,  but I have the oyster eye! I find them everywhere.  I think it is conditioning related.  Most folks look for their food on the ground, I keep an eye on the trees. I usually scan the trees in the area before looking to the ground. That being said-

I find most of mine on Oak,  either stumps,  fallen, or dead patches on a living tree. About 95% of my oyster finds have been within 100 feet from a stream, Creek, or River. About 50% are on a tree hanging over the stream, or on a stump that is on the bank of the body of water.
I'm sure geographic location will effect how they grow in your area.

Rule #1: find water
2#: find fallen Oaks or other hard wood.
3#: once you've found a spot that produces, come back to it about once a week, or a few days after a rain

Pleurotus Ostreatus hyper-accumulates mercury...careful about your source...Refer to my sig for the Stamets's preliminary chart on concentration lvl's in tests..even edibles can be toxic in the long term depending on environment..Look at the radioactive mushrooms around Chernobyl..I'm not talking about the melanin producers all over the news lately but the edible mushrooms in the local forests...they are positively glowing...

That's awesome! I love that orange color. This might be a dumbass question, but is that a gymnopilus or just some random orange mushroom? Haha.

Any particular reason for cloning from 2nd flush or is it just more convenient?

And nice job, makes me think of more mushrooms as growing art.

Yeah just more convenient... I promised the first flush to a local business owner.. ( the grain store owner)...so any clones will have to come from the second flush... to be honest... I might just clone from fungi down the line in my MS project...idk... My purpose is remediation of petroleum so I probably wont clone anything until I find the isolate with the best potential for remediation...

Why not clone from the first flush? Just curious.

Just a minor update..This sub-strain didn't produce basidium...meaning no spores...sneaky sneaky...that's how they get you to buy more kits I suppose...so I'm fruiting it again and I'm going to clone the fruit...I removed the excess mushroom mass from the first fruiting spot and taped it up with packing tape..then I made the same cross shaped slits on the other side...I spritz water into the cuts often..
