Pan Sub ID Please
    #1941171 - 09/22/03 02:46 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Hi all... first off thanks for the great site and info! My dog is in the process of growing some B+, but today after a week of heavy rain I ran across these.

Location: North Carolina
Stipe: Hollow and white. Turning tan as they dry.
Cap: Conical with a white rim very slimy when first pic.
Gills: Attached with white bottoms but black inside.
Substrate: Grass and mulch.

Sorry for the short description but I am gonna walk back out and get some pics in there natural habitat.

Here is a pic of the shrooms in their substrate. I am starting to think they are not active... any thoughts?

THey are not even a panaeolus, possibly a Mycena or Psathyrella.

Pan subbs have a dark reddish brown stem.

mj and do not have a mucuos membrainas seen in the images you posted nor do thaty have a strriate margin.

mj.

Yeah, you sure the mushroom in the habitat pic is the same mushroom? Those *almost* look like Ps. coprohilia.

Let us know how that spore print comes out, that should tell us what genus, at least.

Judging from the look of the cap and the stem, the way the stem splits and the lamellae, I'm going for the psathyrella genus.

I would agree with Psathyrella as well. (Inactive!)
