i'm 20 years old, there is -$95 in my bank account
    #19399269 - 01/10/14 01:52 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

basically i've been in debt for a year almost regarding my phone bill. i've struggled to find permanent work so it's very hard to pay it off. i've already got a bad credit rating, which i don't think is a bad thing considering it will most likely lead to more and more debt, but i do need a car of my own.

anyone else being in this situation where you have absolutely nothing to your name and have had minus funds into your account due to the credit company taking money out of it?

aside from not having money, i am a pretty happy guy

just wanted ur opinions, cheers guys

It always makes me laugh when someone says "I have huge debts" and in the same sentence says, "I have said object that is totally unnecessary."

You can't hold a job but you own a phone.

Guess to stay relevant I should answer the one question you actually posted. Yes I have had creditors attempt to garnish wages. I stopped spending money I didn't have and payed of my debt.

It is without question that the war on drugs is a failure. It has failed to prevent drug abuse. It has failed to keep drugs out of the hands of addicts. It has failed to stop drug overdoses. It has failed to keep drugs away from teenagers. It has failed to stop the violence associated with drug trafficking. It has failed to help drug addicts get treatment. It has failed to prevent the cultivation of marijuana and the making of illicit drugs. It has failed to halt the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.

Keep looking for a job dude. Once u find one your $95 debt should go away. Youre ok just dont go maxing out any credit cards or anything. Buy a bike until youve saved up enough for a car with ur job. And make sure u have insurance!!

If you're unemployed and it's the late/non-payment chargs speak with the company and see if they can be frozen.  Get financial advice from local sources. In the UK we have the Citizens Advice.

With no income it's certain you'll never be able to pay the late fees let alone the actual bill. You'll be in a spiralling debt.

Phone the Co. and say you need to cancel the contract, if you haven't already.  They'll likely want to keep your custom incase you do start working again. Try and agree that the debt and contract is frozen until you are back in work.

How much is your actual phone worth? Sell it to cover the debt.  My phone costs me £5 a month and the handset was £10.  Even though I have an ok fulltime job I keep that cost to the bare minimum.

If you've no job or savings then you can't afford such luxuries.  Get rid of anything that isn't completely vital.

Student loans. Grows at about £1k a year. I currently pay off about £0 each year because I don't earn enough.  But I think it gets written off when I turn 65.

Even as an experienced graduate in a technical role for a huge international professional services firm in which i'm going way above what's expected of my I can't justify much more than the min wage.

Hard times dude.

Do not go to College, you will just get into a huge debt that takes 15+ years to pay back.

Start a business - once you have an idea just make a business plan and start shopping it around (send it to me cause I might want to invest)

- instead of starting a business you could raise capital to build an Earthship and then sell it for profit.

Invest in small business start ups (hopefully some people you know have awesome ideas and want to make them a reality)

Grow your own food - here's a ton of good information including how to make your own organic pesticide
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uz8DlKlsiZMQUGEloBLXWjYcfyIEHYM8q4wY8Lfv1k4/edit?usp=sharing

make your household items your self so you save money in the long run and don't have to run to the store all the time.  This will show you how to do that:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tyo8qUXkDRxmObpMw8OOsrgYM4K1YBD8SyfL-T3me7g/edit?usp=sharing

Do everything you have to do cheaper

Do not spend money

Get food benefits

Sell shit on craigslist, buy stuff that's priced way to low so you can resell it.

Make shit to sell at flea markets and garage sales and retail stores (you never know which store might buy out your homemade product, most likely an open minded store).

Don't listen to them about the phone, keep your phone on. No one will hire you if there is no way to contact you. You could try to find odd jobs, go somewhere there are a lot of elderly people and ask around to see if they need help with anything. Mow lawns, pick up dog shit, the list goes on. Hang in there brotha, if you keep trying you will eventually come out of it.

If you were an empoverished African, that would have been all the money you'd have earned in your life.

I hear you, and am super grateful to have this life. But still, in this society, where i live, 7000$ is about 3 months of living. Most of that goes to rent, utilities and food. Just shows that when you retire if youre american $1,000,000 is questionably adequate unless youre a homeowner as well.
