setting psi on pressure cooker...

i just got a new 6 quart Presto pressure cooker, and i can't figure out how to set the psi.... the instructions aren't much help. any input would be very much appreciated

When the Pressure Regulator/Rocker starts to jiggle that is 15 psi or a drop of water that boils off with in two seconds

oh and make sure it is a slow jiggle very light anything more is to much

so it will just keep jiggling the whole time it's cooking???

also, do i put the jars in before i put it on the stove and what number on the stove knob is a good temp.?

yes it has to jiggle the whole time for it to be 15 psi. i put it on high heat then as soon as i hear it vent a tiny bit of pressure. i then back it off to med hi and adjust to make a slow non rapid venting of pressure. and if you dont put the jars in before you might not get the lid on. hope it helps

Get it up to pressure, turn the heat back and it will stabilize IF you follow the instuctions. They're a lot of help, that's what they're for. And if you follow the instructions, you'll correctly position the regulator cap to regulate the excess pressure, cause that's what that's for.
