Does the presence of cakes in a SGFC tend to decrease humidity?

Ok, didn't really know how to word that question.

After starting my cakes I built my SGFC to make sure it was gonna hold humidity and everything where I wanted it.  I put in a hydrometer and sure enough it slowly creeped up to the high 90s and stayed there for a few days before I took the meter out and then ignored it until the cakes were ready to put in.  I resoaked the perlite and set it back up the way I did before but now with the cakes, and the hydrometer after a few night in there still only shows 85%!  The only thing I can tell different is the presence of cakes and I guess have to assume the possibility of the meter not being accurate.  Granted I didn't have a mister yet and didn't mist them for the first 18ish hours until I got a mister, and now it has started to climb a few numbers and I'm hoping it continue to climbs.

But does that seem normal?

Loss of water in a cake is inevitable, regardless of humidity levels.  Therefore, taking that into consideration, if they lose water, they are most likely losing it by evaporation... and of course fruit production.  The fruits themselves humidify as well as they are constantly losing water and regaining it through the mycelium.

So they probably are helping the humidity levels.

Also, since the mycelium produces heat, it creates a convection effect, making the hot air rise and pulling air through the bottom holes/perlite in an SGFC.

This is my best guess.
