Bag Question
    #19408689 - 01/12/14 02:54 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I am without a PC, so I ordered a 2 lb. bag of sterilized grain. Problem is, after ordering it, I found out it does not have an injection port. I am thinking a decent size glob of silicone would do the trick, but I am not sure. Any thoughts?

I would inject, then cover hole with micropore tape.. to allow a little gas exchange..
are there any filter patches on it?  or is it completely sealed?

Yes, you can add an injection port with silicon. I would do it up at the top of the bag so I didn't accidentally contaminate the syringe(some would probably argue with this but I find paranoia easier than do-overs). I would clean the spot you want to inject,, then add the silicon, then wait a few hours for it to dry, then sterilize your needle, then inject downward onto the substrate.
I agree with Grim,, It is likely easier to just make a hole and tape it. Just make sure it's cleaned well wherever you're injecting it.

Without a filter patch will it still colonize? Sorry, never had to deal with this before....
